this helped a lot through the pandemics. I used to play with my girlfriend and we picked one of those two kids and then roleplay with them like "although i'm a skilled parkourer [sic], my dream is to become a successful ceramist defying the current social structures" and then travel by foot, horse or boat to wherever was the tour about ceramics and take nice screenshots.

(we never played any assassin's creed)

As a historian, it's often difficult to convey historical facts in both a fun and useful way. This mode does both wonderfully. It puts the player in the same world as Assassin's Creed Odyssey, but gives them free rein to explore the game's world and take the tours at their own pace (all fast travel points are unlocked, with some special ones added in), without the constraints of the story, combat, or even damage of any kind. Each tour is wonderfully narrated and provide unique facets to the topic being discussed, whether it's daily life in Ancient Greece, winemaking, or the politics of the day. There are also many discovery sites, which, while not providing as much information as the tours, provide a historical fact, piece of art, or historical object to view, alongside a brief historical description of the object or something along those lines. As well as this, players can unlock special character models to use as their chosen avatar, from fictional characters to real-life representations of characters who appear in AC Odyssey.

The information included was well-chosen, and serves the function of educating players well. It is interesting and fun, and does not water down the educational aspects of the mode for cheap thrills. There is a great deal of care and understanding in the objects used in the mode for articulating the history of the ancient Greek world. It is quite evident that the team at Ubisoft made sure that the Discovery Tour was wanting to bridge the gap between entertainment and historical interpretation, of which I am glad.

All in all, this mode is definitely worth playing and exploring. If you have already played Odyssey, it is still worth playing this mode. You may find that you have learned something new about the ancient Greek world! I know I did!

Really fun, I love learning about Greek history, it's just so fascinating
