This game was quite the departure from the PS1 game, but not in a bad way. If anything, this is the game many were probably expecting when you tell them a Ghost in the Shell game as you get to play as both Motako and Baato.

I can't quite remember the storyline, so bare with me, but you fight many other cyborgs and robots as you try to uncover a mystery that leads to a underground hidden facility.

As you play as the main characters, you not only run around in 3rd character and do all the kinds of acrobatics that they're capable of thanks to their cybernetic bodies, but you can even hack snipers to turn them on the enemies which is highly useful in certain missions. You can also perform other hacks to confuse the enemies and get the first hit in! The controls work great on the PS2 and I have very little to really think of as a negative against this game, then again I did stream it years ago.

The Fujikomas make their appearances too, being hilarious as usual, but also very useful when needed.

I was so glad I listened to my friend's advice and played this because it was a really good game and probably one of the better licenced titles I've played out there.

this game is jank as hell but cool as hell.

This is a very fun and straight forward game.
OST is great and I LOVE Motokos stylish dodge during fights, i-frame spam for the win xD
(Shame there aren't enough Batou levels :/ )

While only being a fan of Oshii's GIS movies I still found it to be a really fun FPS, the story telling could of been better since the story seemed really good. Every Third person shooter should have martial arts melee moves and some kind of free range parkour system.

This game is fucking great. Fantastic presentation and fits right in with the SAC anime. It's weird Ghost in the Shell games are so few and far between because I feel like it has the most potential out of a franchise to make the jump and this game speaks a lot to that.

The combat is a lot of fun and provides a decent amount of options even if it trends towards running and gunning. There's just a lot of potential for more acrobatic shooters and I need more of it.

It also looks great visually and the music is just sick as hell (maybe among the top tier of the era tbh). I love that they went through the effort of getting the anime's dub voice cast for the english version too.

There's definitely some problems though... The level design is a bit copy and paste or just a little wonky. I love the locations you go to, but a little better direction or layout could have helped a lot. The other problem is AI is just a little too dumb. They can put up enough of a fight to keep you moving, but they never really had much in the way of surprises.

Still the bones here are solid and I would have loved to see them do more with this.

Found this in my garage while scrounging for old games; I'd completely forgotten I had it! I was earnestly delighted by this replay of it nearly ooh uh god oh no 20 years later. If you can get over the barrier of the wildly unconventional controls (L1 to shoot!) there's a really solid action game in here.

My only gripes are with the sparse environments variety and small number of levels. The entire game takes place in warehouses and industrial hallways, and there's not much here that makes use of the honestly really great movement and hacking abilities. According to my save file I finished the game in under 3 hours. Still, It feels lovingly dedicated to the SAC property. The full dub cast is here, the story is structured like a standard episode of the show, and the music rocks. Kicking guys in slow motion never gets old, either.

I highly recommend this if you're on the lookout for cool PS2 stuff outside the typical top ten best ever lists, especially if you have a passion (or at least tolerance) for Cavia stuff.
