McDonald's Video Game

released on Dec 31, 2005

McDonald's Video Game is a parody of the business practices of the corporate giant McDonald's, taking the guise of a tycoon-style business-simulation game. The game presents the player with four views: The farmland, the slaughterhouse, the restaurant and the corporate HQ. Through each of these views, decisions can be made which will affect the fate of the player's company. In the game, the player takes on the role of a McDonald's CEO by choosing whether or not to feed the player's cows genetically altered grain, plow over rainforests or feed the player's cattle to other cattle (a practice known to spread mad cow disease). The player can also choose advertising strategies and public official corruption to counteract opponents of the player's actions.

Ah... So there is a chance that my burger is infected...?
Just a second, my Big Mac just arrived

This was one of those games that, as a small child, I didn't really get much of the satirical elements behind it and I was just kind of vibing along with it. One of those things where it takes a tycoon game and uses it to explore themes of the evils of advertisement, marketing and spin, labour exploitation, industrial slaughter of cows to create food, environmental themes regarding global warming and climate change, and the intersection of all these elements to show the unsustainability and lack of ethics behind never-ending growth. This would be all well and good if the game was actually fun to play and didn't suck. Oligarchy, by the same developers, is much better than this.

I give 5 stars because you can make patties out of sick cows and get the employees to spit in the food.

Well, If MC Donald's bad, then what about Burger King and the others?

I'm sorry but if you're wanting to make a business simulation game, then make it near impossible to play to focus on an "ooh McDonald's bad" message you've completely lost me. Now if you excuse me, I have 20 Chicken McNuggets® to finish off.

Anti-McDonalds devs make a tycoon game so unfun to play that I will start eating more McDonalds out of spite.

Also, the first site I played this on had a broken game and it was literally impossible to get farther than a few minutes in before going bankrupt.
