This 2009 re-release of Outrun was excellent. It's actually a best version of Outrun I have ever played. It's called Outrun Online Arcade, but it was a single player game with ability to play it online. New drifting mechanism perfected Outrun and it was something this game badly needed.

had an annoying bug where the person in first would lag when choosing to go left or right at the bunki, so the game wouldn't load either option for anyone else, resulting in the rest of us driving off into a blue nothingness until the game crashed. other than that, it was fun as hell. towards the end of the active online scene, everyone was racing 15 stage continuous and getting about the same 14 minute times, so every corner had 5 or 6 of us drifting in tandem. bunch of boomer arcade racing game nerds celebrating what we thought would be the last we'd ever see from Sega AM2. good times.

It's easy to get confused between this, OutRun 2, Coast 2 Coast, OutRun 2006... but this was a very decent arcade racer in HD and a ton of fun to play online.

It's a bit lacking in content due to being an early digital title where space concerns were real but it's still outrun 2 in HIGH DEFINITION. Outrun 2 is a banger no matter what you play it on so this by extension is also a banger as well. Only problem is that it's delisted now so hope you bought it already, thanks ferarri licensing

the core game remains amazing, however it is such a shame that a lot of the content from the previous Original Xbox releases were removed. this should have been the definitive version of this game, but unfortunately it is not.

at least it's nice to look at the game in HD. also, the online multiplayer technically still works to this day (but good luck finding another player).
