An expansion for Path of Exile

Path of Exile: Echoes of the Atlas is the game's 10th core expansion and will launch beside the Ritual league in version 3.13 of the game. In Path of Exile: Echoes of the Atlas, you'll gain even more control over your end-game Path of Exile experience by specialising each region of your Atlas with its own passive tree, crafting Watchstones to refine your rewards, selecting up to ten map bosses to face simultaneously and challenging the Atlas' new pinnacle boss: The Maven.

The Maven expansion was peak Path of Exile for me. Echoes of the Atlas shook up the endgame objectives, added an interesting new pinnacle boss, and had the crafting and league mechanics to counteract some of PoE's issues with bloat and itemization.

A lot of what I enjoyed in PoE culminated in 3.13 and 3.14. But the 3.15 nerfs mixed with Archnem going core really soured the experience I enjoyed so much. This version of PoE was amazing, but it simply doesn't exist any more. Live services really are a blessing and a curse.

An incredible game continually marred by out of touch development. When Path of Exile is good it's absolutely incredible, and when it's bad it's endlessly frustrating. Unfortunately the game has been trending more and more towards frustrating over the last few years of development. Temporary content like leagues or the endgame tends to be well done, presenting interesting build options and allowing complex interactions with the game's mechanics. But the base game's content is continually trending in a direction that feels outright hostile. An insistence on making the mandatory leveling process more painful with every league has driven me away from the game, and will likely keep me away until it's improved.
