É um joguinho bem curto de rodar a manivela e achar a pessoa certa pra cada trabalho que aparece na tela. Lembra bem de longe um Papers, Please só que bem mais frenético. É legalzinho, termina rápido e tem um bom doggo.

A rare free game for the Playdate that doesn’t come from the seasonal catalogue, Recommendation Dog!! is the fast-paced brother of Root Bear in spirit and function, though noticeably lacking any delicious puns in this instance. I guess the developers just wanted you to be a dog with a job for some reason, fair enough I suppose. Where they substantively differ is in the details.

Recommendation Dog!! is more about pure speed and image recognition, with you trying to match prospective customers with a suitable worker for their problem as fast as possible to serve as many people as you can before the time is up. From starving customers in need of a chef, to people who just want to see some magic tricks, the rolodex of workers you’re given to search in order to fulfill as many clients’ needs as possible makes for a dizzying list of characters.

Besides that, it’s not so different from your typical score-chaser. It has a “story mode” that is extremely easy and over before you know it. The length is fine, but for a title offering such an inconspicuous challenge it should have been much tighter on the required timing of each level. It has an endless mode as well of course. I wasn’t nearly as drawn to spend too much time on it for this game. When the game’s difficulty is only capped by raw hand speed, I can only get so much better before I’ve had my fill. Still, for a free title I would say it’s a decent one.

It's pretty simple but it's also very charming and FREE! I had a good time with it, and the endless mode you unlock after completing it is still pretty fun. The ending was really cute too. I think this is a great time and a great use of the Playdate's crank too.

Bit of a Paper's Please clone for playdate. uses the crank nicely, well done.

Not really all that much to it.

You are a dog with a job, what's not to like! Actually, the core gameplay of receiving requests and flipping through a rolodex of contractors to find a match gets repetitive... And the game is also pretty easy once you get the hang of it. There's not much tension and with a few minutes of practice I was almost never making mistakes. That said, this game is super cute and I adored all the absurd requests that you get. "I'm starting a company, do you have an EXPENSIVE and UNRELIABLE attorney that might join?" I'm not sure how much of the writing or contractor profiles are randomly generated, but regardless the designers did a great job at leaning into the absurdity of the premise. Although it is easy and repetitive, it doesn't overstay its welcome as the "story" only takes around 10 minutes to beat. I probably won't play endless mode to aim for high scores, but I will boot it up occasionally to delight friends.
