All right, but very short DLC for the Serious Sam franchise.

I mentioned before that I am not a great fan of remasters and remakes because they feel cheap and quick and are mostly a way to make a quick cash in.

For the Serious Sam HD remakes however, I made an exception. I liked the HD version of Serious Sam: The Second encounter and the few extras the game offered. Then game this DLC and it got me doubting again. While all right, it is extremely short and not worth five euros.

In Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter – Legend of the Beast, you take up arms once again, against the never ending hordes of Mental, in search for a mysterious horned beast that is buried beneath the sands of ancient Egypt, somewhere in an underground temple.

To progress to this point, you journey through three levels, all looking like they are shamelessly copied from Serious Sam (HD): First Encounter. In the end, you fight the beast, or as it is called, the Ram-God of the Great Obelisk. This final battle was awesome and redeemed some quality in the game.

I must say that I liked to see all the enemy types that normally only appear in Serious Sam (HD): The Second Encounter in a game/DLC that looked like the First Encounter.

This DLC also adds a new survival map and three new deathmatch maps, which is kind of nice. Like I said before, the DLC is very, very short and can be completed in less than two hours.

In the end, Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter – The Legend of the Beast was an all right DLC, mainly based on the boss fight in the end. Other than that, the levels felt a little blend and copied and did not offer that much.

I did however have just enough fun with it that I would recommend it.

Almost a 1:1 lazily done remake of Serious Sam Alpha levels with a Sam3 enemy randomly inserted as a final boss.

Dont waste your time

I heard bad things about it but overall i'm happy that the hd gets a dlc expansion and it was alright.

A tedious slog, and very probably the nadir of the series.

This was a 2, but I liked the last boss enough to boost it up by half a star, it's my favorite kind of boss where there's a very specific thing you need to do to deal a large amount of damage. I'm not really a fan of boss battles where they're just a big strong enemy you have to fight until it dies, I like when they have specific weaknesses you have to figure out. As for the rest of the DLC, there's a very noticable lack of weapons and you don't really get many of the good ones in this. While I'm writing this I'll add this, which isn't specific to this DLC, but I hate the Kleer enemy type, they're awful to fight and I have no idea why the developers keep adding them, maybe fans love them or something, but they are the absolute worst.
