Much like FF Tactics, I was very confused at first since FF7 had been my introduction to the series and I didn't realize each game had different characters and settings. Once I got past that though, this game seemed like the coolest shit in the world. Drawing and Junctioning magic was very different from Materia, but once my brother showed me its potential for getting game-breaking power early on I just loved it. The characters were super likeable, I especially liked how much time we spent with Squall's inner monologue and the juxtaposition between how much he cares and how much he's trying to display that he doesn't care. The world map was very fun to explore, and I loved how many GFs were tucked away in strange places. The story in the back half got a little confusing for 7 year old me, but each time I revisited it it made a little more sense. Revisiting this again recently with the PS4 remaster, I actually liked it even more than I remembered, and I remain convinced that this is one of the best in the series.
