this game is THE shit.
discovered it in the elementary school computers (2007-2008) and we'd all huddle around one of the computers brainstorming the strongest words. this game gave me a god complex bc i was the only kid who liked reading (and also reading in other languages) so everyone would beg me to help them beat bosses with long words
subtracting stars tho bc many swear words are banned. added half a star though because i downloaded this game very legally in 2022 and had a blast

killed a guy in one hit with "lactations" how bout you

It's still the best game of it's category.Hope it will get re-released someday.

This review contains spoilers

you can play wordle is in this game. i am not joking.

Re-release this game you cowards!

My grandma and I absolutely went off in this game when I was like 7.

its a pretty fun game in all honesty. you spell a lot of words

I remember playing this game before I even spoke English and just choosing different letter combinations until the funny worm chanted an ancient spell at me.
Had fun with it, but I can confirm that it's more fun when you know what you're actually doing.

nostalgia... fond, fond memories of this one...

Unironically the most rewarding turn-based combat system ever conceived. If only it were still on digital storefronts so people could actually have the chance to see that...

This game won't take the word verisimilitude, but it will take the word rape; what has this world come to.

I have a super vague memory of playing this game, and I think I enjoyed it.

played this on my old ass computer with my grandma when i was like 6

game only made for people who watched rick and morty

This game was my shit at a young age

This is such a fun blend of, of all things, Word puzzle and RPG, and it has such a fun kitschy charm to it. Lex is adorable, and the story is surprisingly fun--it really revels in the fact it's just one big blend of various fictional stories.

...FUUUUCK the Genie stage in World 2 though. That thing is a nightmare of balance, and is the only reason this ain't a 4.5 stars. It's so weird how hard that thing is for an otherwise rather casual video game???

Also, FUCK EA for delisting this game from existence in the pursuit of turning PopCap into nothing but PvZ slaves, this game is super fun and it makes us livid it's such a pain in the ass to recommend it to others. Anyways, uh, we have the physical release for the full trilogy, so maybe we'll play Volume 2 someday...

As far as word games go, it's pretty good! Lots of unique buffs you can give to your words, and some pretty challenging enemies towards the end. It's pretty good, but it does get kind of boring as it goes on.
Still, fun and charming. Definite recommend if you like word games.

Fun game, but you seem to hit some kind of numbers wall later in the game and can't proceed without grinding like you might in a mobile game. Loved it up until I hit that point.

Really underrated. Age got to it and it's not as varied, or its plot as engaging as I remembered, but it's still fun and I can confidently recommend it as a cute little game from PopCap.

10 year old me loved the shit out of this game because it combined spelling with mythology. At this point you can just play Letter Quest, it's basically this game but you play as a skellington fella.
