Hehehehe, we made a bad game again.
I truly miss when we used to get mediocre licensed games based on cartoons that doesn't particularly follow any episode plotline and just exist to be an original game. Though they all tend to be bad and this one is no exception, it's just a really repetitive yet short third-person shooter where you just kill people and press something to unlock a door and continue till you get to the boss of the stage so it's truly nothing special. This game doesn't hit as hard as something like The Simpsons Hit and Run or the movie the game where they all had a bunch of Simpsons references so even if the gameplay was mediocre it had a whole lot of charm to balance the bad from the good, this is Family Guy so it's a whole lot harder to have neat reference to past episodes since Family Guy mostly just relies on gags and not really good episode script like the Simpsons did. As a Family Guy fan, I was able to spot a few neat references but it's still nothing much, the references are either too obvious or just nonexistent.
So yeah, it's a very mediocre game, the gameplay is nothing unique and all of the stages just feel like a variation of each other with bad pacing. I don't really recommend this game unless you'd like to have a quick laugh about how bad it is with friends since it's still silly to play a Family Guy game.
Though if I had to point out one good thing about the game that would be the soundtrack since it's based on the show's soundtrack which is really, really good and probably the only part of Family Guy that puts the Simpsons to shame, I have no idea of the composer of the show did the music for this game but either way it sounds really good and really similar.

i can't believe this game did the you fight your co-op partner in a 1v1 thing as a peter/giant chicken fight that was fucking awesome. otherwise a generic shooter, some cute family guy references throughout but nothing too crazy it's mostly reused gags and especially reused voice lines. barely worth a play even if you're a family guy fan, but i have family guy brain rot and had a good time playing with my friend!
The joke of playing through a stupid game on a stream for some friends continues.
So, it's a more focused experience than the 2006 game. It's just shooting, outside of a bland beat-'em-up fight as the penultimate encounter. It ran at 120fps on RPCS3 for me, which was nice, but it gets no credit for that in this review. The game is bland in terms of encounters and content. Some parts that weren't playtested especially well have fairly generous checkpoints to iron those out. The only somewhat interesting fight in the game is the final one. I died on it once, and noticed that the boss will refill its HP when that happens. It's the only time in the game I made a point to use a powerful weapon and healing items, and it was fairly straightforward from there.
Game's just bland, but serviceable. I wouldn't have gotten through it without my friends in VC mocking it for the 3 hours it took to finish. 1.5/5.

One of the most fun times I've had playing a split-screen game in like forever since they don't make them anymore. Me and my friend were laughing our ass off because it is very bad and janky but that's a good piece of the fun of it. Very repetitive and I also FUCKING HATE FAMILY GUY IT'S SERIOUSLY NOT EVEN CLOSE TO BEING FUNNY but I did this for my best friend who really likes it so that's okay.
Also you can use Cheat Engine to give yourself infinite money and spam infinite Joe Swansons.
ALSO also the 1v1 between Peter and the chicken with me and my best friend was funny as FUCK and I loved it.

I knew going into this that I was going to hate it, and I most certainly hated the Family Guy "aspect" to the Family Guy game, but the gameplay and overal structure had me more interested.
While painfully mediocre, the gameplay and level design feels oddly similar to Ratchet & Clank, which is certainly an interesting genre to base your licensed game on. While the game never feels all too fun to play, it's mindnumbing enough to last you the near 6 hour campaign without it truly overstaying its welcome.
Sweeting the package more is a bevy of offline multiplayer options and unlocks, rewarding constant progression and searching for collectibles. Unfortunately, the gameplay isn't nearly interesting enough to want me to continue playing this game to completion, despite it otherwise being rather easy. I messed aroudn slightly in offline deathmatch, then called it good from there, not caring what other options were available.
I seriously hate Family Guy, and just about everything about it, but I still endured through this playthrough with relative ease. Even though I rarely paid attention to the story and rolled my eyes at every half-baked attempt to be "3edgy5me." The only real reason I'd recommend and non-Family Guy fan to play this game is because it was developed by Heavy Iron Studios: the people behind Battle for Bikini Bottom.

Goofy, callbacks, comedy and destruction. I'm talking about a game that probably went under everybody's radar. The story? Who the hell needed a story I just wanted to kill bad guys with Stewie and Brian and every weapon I used was Hella fun. Such a masterpiece of a cartoonist game and I really want either a remastered version or a new Family guy game
