Plenty of content but the combat is shite and the sound makes it feel like the characters are talking through walkie talkies

This game was fucking horrible, I hated the shitty design of the backgrounds, the characters and graphics all looked clunky and awkward, the special moves were, uninspired, and once you unlock Orochimaru (and I can't believe I remembered that name, but had to check the spelling for sure), the game becomes impossibly cheap. This is the poor man's version of Clash on Gamecube.

But the strategy guide was cool.

was insane at the ult button minigame

there is certainly something here that caused the series to go on for so long but being the first it's. .the most unrefined version of that. extremely bare bones ""story"" mode that features some of the most stitched together dialogue. mind numbing mission mode. got up to the A-Rank missions and about 560 items get on the First of Three gacha type things to unlock items, which by the way, you can get blanks from rolling. the final straw was when i unlocked every character and therefore the first secret scroll item of many which the reward for that was an image that just said "congratulations" on it. that was truly just when i decided you know what. i think my time is done with this one.

First ultimate ninja game. It starts what gets better in future games. Still Naruto, still cool.

this was the fucking SHIT as a kid

can’t believe i begged my mom for this game for 2 years.

Dont let Nostalgia ruin the fact that this was dogshit

This game isn't too bad. Its sequels are miles better (from what i remember) but still, solid experience if you like Naruto stuff. Great cel shaded graphics for the time and an accurate depiction of the different abilities of each character. The soundtrack is serviceable/appropriate at best though, the english voice acting is pretty rough (i blame the fan-fictiony script alongside a mediocre voice direction), and the main gameplay loop can get pretty repetitive.

Platinado via retroachievements.

The first one, rough as hell. Was fun to play back then but it looks really weird and controls even weirder. Luckily the next ones were way better.

It's always about Sasuke, believe it!

Not balanced and I probably would rate it lower if I were to go back and play it again but I definitely had a lot of fun playing this at Ryan's house after school even if I would also get triggered whenever he pronounced it "Nay-roo-toe"

I've been reading through Naruto for the first time lately and figured I'd try the games. I'm way past this one in the story, but I wanted to start at the beginning to see how the games evolved.

In terms of making use of the franchise it's a pretty good game. Lots of aesthetic, using things like ninja missions as a mode, and the stages themselves are FULL of little nods to the series.

The gameplay is unfortunately way too janky. I do like that it's the kinda game where learning one character means you'll at least be competent with the others, but still different enough to feel excited about using new characters. But overall the game feels like it can't decide if it wants to be more like a traditional fighter, or a smash clone. Items are EVERYWHERE in the stages - you'll have one assist character who will show up every 5 seconds to give you an item, along with breakable objects that give items. I like the idea of the assist character, especially as they each have a specific assist move they can give out, but they need to appear way less frequently.

The stages do this thing of having 2 layers, which is an okay idea in theory, but in practice it just leads to you and your opponent constantly trying to chase each other through layers like 2 people trying to side step each other in a corridor.

It's an okay start for the franchise I guess. Not unplayable, but the fights just feel very "too many cooks in the pot" with all the ideas they had going on.

Also it's kinda funny how they try to make a story mode for each character despite the fact only like 3 of the characters in the game had enough fights to justify the 6-fight-long stories in the game. You'll get some characters whose canon opponents aren't even in the game, like Shikamaru's opponents, so 90% of the story mode is just making up reasons for 2 characters to fight. It's basically just arcade mode disguised as a story.

Inoffensive Naruto branded fighting game.

A pretty ok fighting game that I used to play when I was a kid, but not as much as Ultimate Ninja 2 and 3.

Primeiro jogo de naruto que joguei, na época eu extremamente divertido.

Sasuke and Kakashi being able to use Naruto's Sexy Jutsu was so mind blowing.

This game is an unplayanle mess that looks awful with very barebones content. It's bad.

It just doesn't have anything special except for the rough controls. Kinda boring.........

Os primeiros quatro jogos dessa franquia são bem parecidos, algumas poucas coisas vão melhorando durante cada um mas é tudo bosta.

É meio excrachado e poligonal,envelheceu muito mal

Despite being very limited and a little rough compared to the rest of the ultimate ninja he is quite fun and nostalgic.
