Rounds is a great game.
If you're playing it regularly, it's good fun for a short while. But the real meat and potatoes are found through modding it to have card packs so unbalanced they break the game. Some of the funniest moments I've had in gaming this year are from me obtaining cards that let my bullets wrap around the screen, and explode on impact, and spawn bombs at the same time, all while being fired like a machine gun. And then having the same happen to me, but this time I can fly.
It gets to a point where you stop taking the game seriously and enjoy it for how unabashedly busted and game-like it is. I shouldn't enjoy it, but honestly? It's a refreshing take on a versus game after having spent years of my life playing First Person Shooters, where everything has to be as balanced as Philippe Petit.
In other words, it's my clear pick for the best Multiplayer game of 2021.

One of the first matches I made a really cool build where I was tanky, had a second life, heat-seeking missile rounds and a field I could deploy, it allowed me to play from either a distance or right up close, despite how OP this sounds my opponents were still dangerous. One armed with artillery railgun fire from the skies and a very deep health pool and the other with a huge barrage of bouncing rounds that can leach life balanced out with a very shallow health pool.
The last match I won the first few rounds, which somehow ended in them building up nuclear Death Stars from their fingers whilst I had like 3 cards because they kept destroying each other whilst I cowered in a corner.

Great game to play with people who aren't that good with a controller since it levels the playing field for the loser. The immense power of some of the perks make it basically an even score until the final round though, at which point the person who is better at platformers will always win. Physics are a bit fucky and there don't appear to be that many levels either. Still good fun though and priced very fairly for what you get. Far too easy to cancel character customization for both players by accident.
This game is so simple, yet so fun. It's crazy how something so basic can feel so instantly replayable. After playing it just once I wanted to go again immediately. The rush you get trying to steer clear of the shots of your enemy is thrilling.
Alright, I'm exaggerating a bit - but it really is fun. It's good for a laugh between friends for an hour or so. After that, I'm not sure. I may revisit it again for a few more Rounds.
The powerups all seem pretty overpowered and wacky, but that's what adds to the fun. Seeing your opponent choose their powerup and trying to figure out how they're going to implement it in to their plan of attack is a cool feature and gets things pretty heated.
