okay so we take the first game, right?

and we add... required combat arenas.
and open ended level design that just feels like shit
with none of the interesting characters of Spider-Man since we blew em all in the first game
Oh, and 90% of the bosses and story are almost one-to-one from the first game, just with different names.

Also no one gives a shit about Electro! Die!!

...really cute credit sequence tho. ups for that.

Compared to the first game I feel like they missed the mark. This game feels weird and not as much fun as the last one. Lacks spirit.

This is a sequel that feels like a leftover of the first game. The story is not as interesting as the first game, and the villains are some of the most "B-list" villains in the web-head's gallery. The stages are more generic and somewhat confusing in the objectives presented to advance. It's a good game, but it's not better than the first one.

Not as good as the first game by a mile (and a lot glitchier too), but the voice acting is still enjoyable and there are some fun levels. Play the pre-9/11 version if you can it just feels more compelling in the final stages.

Weirdly almost identical to the first game, yet feels completely different and has like zero of the original’s charm? Probably a lot to do with collection of villains this time around, mostly D-listers to me.

they put Hammerhead and Big Wheel in this universe before Green Goblin and i think that's very funny

Now there's a Marvel franchise worth existence

There's something slightly...off about this game that I was always unable to put my finger on. It expands on everything present on the first game, with added features of different times of day, more abilities, and being able to explore street-level areas. But as someone who played a lot of the original game and was well-versed with the limitations of it, I think it's these new features that gives me that weird feeling. It feels like a cracked-mirror version of the original and the stories of it being re-worked so close to release due to the 9/11 terrorist attacks further add to that uncanny feeling I have.

i didn't really hate my experience with this game but also it's hard to get into having played literally any other future spider-man game. it looks nice and does some fun levels that aren't just new york open world but generally it is janky and can be very frustrating!

Not a bad game, but honestly shouldn't have existed tbh. Activision tried to do the same thing they did with Tony Hawk by having a new game out the following year, but kind of backfired. Also didn't help that it came out on the PS1 when the PS2 was already out, even if the first game was a banger on the PS1.

I was surprised to hear so much negativity over this game on here, compared to the first, because this game outclasses it in almost every way. The levels feel like they were designed with the limitations of the Spider-Man engine in mind, you won't be chasing someone and have them escape while waiting for your camera to readjust like you used to. It's more varied, with every level presenting a new challenge, and more variety in the types of locations you visit. The framerate is an issue, but far from unplayable, and I do cut some slack for issues like this on 5th generation games.
Then you may ask then, why is this game rated the same as the original for me? Because the bosses are flat out terrible. The villain lineup, is stronger than the first game but every boss is a downright damage sponge, sometimes taking over 25 phases of repeating the same move to beat, lookin' at you Electro, and Sandman. So, for the love of god PLEASE don't play on hard.

Played on Duckstation emulator, but I've played and completed on original hardware too.

Infelizmente ele foi ofuscado pelo atentado das torres gêmeas porém ainda continua sendo uma boa continuação

I saw this in a 9/11 iceberg and then a fed contacted me saying to cease and decist. Goated

they put so much cool shit in the last one that they had to make electro their big bad hahaha booooo dumbass

The story is less exciting than the first one and also the levels are way simpler. There's a lot of levels where you need to race against the clock and levels with annoying gimmicks that makes you restart a level various times. The boss fights are boring and confusing so it takes unnecessary time to find out how to beat it. The first one was way more compelling.

Huge disappointment. I finished the first game yesterday and this had like none of the character or humor from the first game.

It still plays well but without the great villains, humor, and fun levels this is a huge let down. 5/10.

The best PS1 game?

The original game that made you FEEL like Spiderman.

Has a lot of PS1 jank you'd expect from the era, but the graphics were surprisingly good for the system (if still of its time).

Played this all the time as a kid. Without cheat codes I made it to the final level, but could never get to Electro. I think I remember the Sandman and Rhino (although it might have been another brute like character from the Spider-Man rogue gallery) fights. I replayed the first level a lot, where the voice over is done by Stan Lee (or a close match).

Cheat codes allowed for lots of alternate costumes and other cheats like invincibility. Was fun to mess around with.

Despite some additions in mechanics, like mini-game puzzles or special webs, Enter Electro works like its predecessor, but without his charisma.
The game has a few interesting boss battles, but that's all, most of normal levels are forgettable, story is very generic, and it doesn't have the charm and funny of the first one.

It's the same as the first but with less interesting villains and inferior level design THANKS 9/11 you ruin everything.

Being so intimately familiar with this game's predecessor, it was fun getting to jump back into this world with the same gameplay in new levels. Spider-Man 2000 feels like such a self contained piece of history to me, it's strange this game exists, stranger that it took me so long to finally get around to it. I've heard this game lack the charm of the original and... yeah I can see that.

It's not bad by any means, far from it. But a lot of what I love about that original game is in its cast of characters, all of which are absent for the sequel (with the exception of Spider-Man himself). This time the game has 3 main villains: sandman, hammerhead, and electro. They were all pretty decent, but none reached the highs of doc ock, carnage, and especially venom. I wish so badly venom showed up in this game, it wasn't the same without him. This is all in comparison to Spider-Man 2000 though and even though it's not as charming as that game that doesn't mean it's devoid of charm. This is still a pretty entertaining game; Spider-Man's quips are on point as usual, Stan Lee continues to narrate, and the cutscenes are goofy fun.

This game is very challenging with certain sequences (the plane chase especially) being completely unforgiving with the time limit. Sometimes this worked and other times it was frustrating. This time around focus is given to a new web pull ability which is pretty finicky. The gameplay is largely the same as before, finicky but fun.

Unlike Spider-Man 2000, this isn't something I'd go back to much, but I'm glad I finally experienced it.

Solo les gusta este juego por que tiene a los 2 edificios chistosos

Neversoft's Spider-Man showed how to do a proper game with the titular superhero. The game figured out how to web sling around with the technical limitations of the PS1, the combat was dull but serviceable, and there was an undeniable charm to the whole game, which made it special.

In 2001 Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro by Vicarious Visions tried to improve on the first game, but it failed to deliver the same magic as that one did.

First off, the game is full of gimmick levels, which are not clever or entertaining like in the first one. Every level has an objective, some are easy while some are frustratingly hard thanks to the controls and the overall level design.

The combat and the web slinging feels the same, and pretty much technically everything is the same, despite the addition of web power ups and some new moves.

What changed are the levels, the story and overall feel of the gameplay, thanks to the gimmicky levels that I mentioned.

Boss fights are annoying now, and much harder than before. Difficulty spikes were already a problem with the first entry.

Overall, Enter Electro is a lesser sequel that can be enjoyed, but it has little to none redeeming values.

However, the developers had their time to learn as they handled some of the Spider-Man titles and I would like to stick with their games/ports in the future.

this game is very interesting in a lot of ways. it isn't as good as the original, but i love how it tries to find it's own identity. the first game is silly, fun, and with loads of charisma, while this one tries to take itself more seriously in a more grounded scenario. it's kinda interesting that minus green goblin the first game had most of spider-man's biggest hitters. venom, carnage, doc ock and instead this one brings out a lot of his smaller lower level villains like hammerhead. even though mechanically they're the same, the tone of the story and scope of the world is very different. really interesting to see this spider-man in a darker story, but nothing can beat the charm of the first game.

So, this game left me a bit spaced, the stages are really big compared to the previous game where it gives me more freedom of exploration but the physics continue to be the same as its prequel, that is dated and did not make me fully enjoy the gameplay, also because of this physics I stayed for hours in some frustrating stages at the limit of the ragequit, especially that of the airplane
Oh, finally there is a real final boss where I can fight, in the previous one it was simply a race lol

Eu deveria dar uma nota menor pela quantidade de bullshit, mas não consigo.

Kind of a letdown after the first one

This was a great play, the graphics and sound design was so nostalgic, but it was also just a decent game. Not as good as the OG I'll admit, but def worth it!
