Beat this thing WAY back when and... We didn't know the NES could even DO these things honestly. Puresabe is a fucking wizard, and they sure know how to make a compelling Mega Man ROMHack. This is to ROMHacks of Mega Man what Unlimited was to fangames of Mega Man, where it kinda set the standard going forward. Except, unlike Unlimited, we feel like Minus Infinity aged far, far more gracefully in that regard.

This game is awesome insanity for the whole experience. It's also really hard, but it's really fun and feels great to play once you truly learn the game.

Dog cannons and vacuum cleaners are the most destructive force imaginable

This is no ordinary Mega Man ROM hack, as despite having the same 8 Robot Masters as 4, nothing is ever the same. You're given much stronger weapons than the base game, that are capable of absolutely crazy things. Some are simple changes like "oh the Pharoah Shot fires 5 shots like a shotgun now" but others, like Hell Wheel and Toad, are completely different in ways you just have to see for yourself. In exchange, the stages and bosses are much, much harder. I'd call it the Brawl Minus of Mega Man 4 if I wanted to be cheeky. Stages come with new gimmicks, like Pharoah Man's that will change your rules on the fly and you have to adapt to it in each area. My only real complaint about the increased power is that your buster shot isn't aided in any meaningful way which while this does encourage Weapon use, it will make beating your first boss incredibly hard. Late game bosses are incredibly hard as well so the game makes sure you can't game over by showering you with items, not to mention your Rush Search, which is basically free items anywhere any time (so long as it has energy). The bosses really are all over the place, in ways that can be hard to keep up, but there's a rhyme and reason to all of their patterns you can pick up and learn leading to a lot to master in this game. Not only that, but there are tons of hidden goodies and little layers to this game that will reward you for going out of your way. There are lots of highlights in the second half of the game too, in the Cossack and Wily Fortresses, but you should really see those for yourself. I never thought I'd think "Mega Man Autoscrolling section" and get the fun kind of PTSD where you think about how genuinely difficult it was rather than lame and easy or horseshit. Also Rush Cannon is one of the funniest weapons ever. Should have said this earlier but I wanted to say it now.

This hack is super inventive, and I think everyone reaching out to Mega Man hacks and fangames should play this one!

This is Maximalist Mega Man. Everything is turned up to near-excess, including the difficulty. This romhack is appropriately hyped up in the community but I was caught off guard with how difficult it was. Each of the eight opening levels is as hard as the Wily Stages of other Mega Man games and at least 50% longer, usually with a couple extra mini-boss fights.

By the middle-late game I was getting used to the challenge but the final couple levels (including the Wily fights) were too much for me. I was playing with save states thinking that I could never beat this romhack legit, at least not anytime soon. Seriously, this romhack is harder than Mega Man 9.

That said, the game does give you a lot of safety nets (and there are plenty of assist features). There are a couple moments in the game where the game hands you a bunch of pickups (weapon energy, lives, E-tanks) to refill your stocks although it all feels very inelegant. If this romhack has any flaw is that it's inelegant. The game likes to pit you against a lot of different obstacles at once, usually pushing the NES hardware to its graphical limit. To compensate, you often find pickups waiting for you on common pathways. It's the ballistic solution to ballistic difficulty: give the player lots of health pickups to keep their health bar up.

That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but even a single early level can be a trial. The good news is that there are plenty of mechanics that even the odds for you and are considerate to the playing experience (for example, weapon energy refilling a bit each time you die). The weapons are great, if maybe overpowered. I found myself using the Dive Man weapon– with its 8-way shooting ability– more than any other. Getting the traversal items was a nail-biting challenge although the items are very powerful if obtained.

What makes this romhack special isn’t just the impressive technical aspect, like all sorts of enemies and gameplay types packed into the game, it’s the fact that the creators made something that is distinctly Mega Man but also has its own identity. There’s swaths of creativity in how levels unfold and the kind of gameplay detours that Minus Infinity takes. The creators made decisions with this romhack that hadn't been made before my Mega Man proper and they had their own spin on it.

This truly is one of the best romhacks.

Best modded version of any game ever. Hands down. Ridiculously creative.

This is what every Mega Man game should strive to be, if not more.

How did it take me this long to finally play this as a fan of mega man fan content for 8 years.

The Kirby homages were consistently the funniest parts about the game, and everything else is equally cool and impressive. One of the best ROM Hacks I've gotten the chance to play

The best Megaman Romhack I've played. It is actually insane what the creator was able to pull off. The Final Boss having a healthbar for his healthbar was an epic moment yo

Boas referências a outros jogos
