its insane how it starts out strong but it slowly but surely just starts decending into some really bad level design, castle eggman drove me up the fucking wall with how unclear and easy to fall into bottomless pits it is, that and the lack of being able to look up/down and how it feels like sonic is always on ice makes for an extremely infuriating experience. it has potential but it squanders it
(Multiplayer)
I have 100%ed this game, I have beaten it several times with many friends, I've played the mods, I've made some mods, it's an awesome game.
The levels are really big and really fun to explore, they all look great, the controls are awesome, playing it multiplayer is fun, it's just a really fun time.

A 3D Sonic game that somehow kind of worked? And I had a lot of fun with it? This should be impossible! Sonic Robo Blast 2 feels like what 3D Sonic's first step into 3D should of been instead of flopping around with ideas that never truly worked out. It feels and plays like a good classic Sonic game despite it being in 3D, an accomplishment that Sega has yet to achieve.
Some of the bosses and levels are very difficult and frustrating. I remember one part of Arid Canyon Zone Act 1 where I couldn't figure out how to progress the level and I ended up going a different path that made me repeat progress I already completed. At the very least, it feels great once you complete a ridiculously hard boss like Castle Eggman Act 3.
I haven't played as the other characters yet, but Sonic feels very slippery. Even though this does create momentum and speed, it makes platforming very difficult.
Even though so much of it was aggravating, I still loved it, and I have yet to try any of the custom levels or characters. This game is only for the skilldest of gamers like me.

A top-tier Sonic game if you can accept the very different playstyle to the norm - though an argument can be made that this is better than the official stuff - and a testament to the devs' tenacity to work on it for 25+ years. Just don't expect a great storyline, and be ready to download some mods if you want something to do after finishing the 1-2 hour story outside time trials or Emblem hunting.
Maybe I'll finish this at a later point but Egg Rock Zone Act 1 is an absolutely terrible level. Yeah, just put precision platforming in a game that's specifically tailored to forgiving platforming, no one will be mad at that.
Even if I do hate that level in particular, this is a really good game, in fact this is actually the first positive experience I've had with a Sonic game. The movement of 2D Sonic always bothered me because Sonic would stop on a dime but would take a while to gain speed, which made platforming feel chaotic. Then you had the fact that you couldn't see too far ahead of you so any obstacles in your way would be hard to see, which created a very conflicted design philosophy of wanting the player to go fast but also not wanting the game to lack challenge, which means that going slower would be better for first time players, which sucks for me personally because I really don't like how Sonic feels when he's going slow.
These complaints aren't here though, the movement feels great (although I'll chalk that up to my extensive familiarity with Doom's movement) and the platforming is mostly forgiving, save the aforementioned level. Each zone is distinct with its own theming and mechanics and those first 5 or 6 zones were an absolute treat. Compile this alongside a variety of different shields (power-ups) that each have their own uses and you have a really solid platformer.
I have other things I want to talk about but seeing how I haven't fully finished the game, I don't think I'm in any position to say anything more. I'm not a Sonic fan, but even I enjoyed this game, so I recommend it.

[Official Level Design Contest 2021: Round 1]
I didn't enjoy this pack as much as I did other ones. I had some issues in some of the levels with getting lost and some of the gimmicks were difficult to get to grips with. There are still some good levels here and other people may not have the same issues I have had so it is still worth checking out.

Quite easily one of the best sonic games ever created, fan-game or official! The level design, the character abilities, the wonderful music and aesthetics, it's all so wonderfully hand-crafted and makes me so grateful for this game's existence!
The only reason I'm giving it a 4.5 instead of full marks is the disappointing lack of outstanding custom levels compared to 2.1, but the vanilla campaign is so amazing that I honestly can't complain too much.
