My all time favorite light gun game. HOTD 2 comes close, but I have a bit more of a soft spot for HOTD 1. It's a shame the source code is lost so it can never be ported to newer systems, but emulating it is still really fun.

joguei muito quando era criançaa, bom jogo

from what I played it's a solidight gun game with cool graphics

The House of the Dead is far more difficult than I remembered, and made me wish I had two lightguns. Goofy fun.

Games bullshit as hell but you get a cool gun so who's to say how good it is

This game brings back so much memory. It really gave haunting vibes back then. I enjoyed playing it in repeat mode. The second boss gave me nightmares.

It's fun. Graphics have not aged, the gore is toned down but it's still a fun light gun game.

I played this in arcades well before resident evil and this game/series is way more goofy. Zombie ninjas? of course, why not.

It's probably not as good as I remember it but dammit it was fun.

I always loved playing this game whenever I would be hanging out at the mall with my cousin, and I will always cherish those memories.

distinct memories goin down the shore with my cousins and saying made up swear words at the second boss when dad was off tryin to win us free candy

I have fond memories as a kid of seeing this game in arcades and theaters and was always in awe of it's haunting aura.
Finally beating it and getting #1 on the local score rankings in my local arcade was one of my proudest moments as a adolescent.
Sadly it's becoming more and more rare to find these arcade cabinets anymore because it's "too violent" I assume.
Regardless if I ever see one of these in public I'll never hesitate to give it a go.

This one kinda goes harder than the remake, I fully recommend this, I thought the whole branching paths in rail shooters thing was exclusive to remakes, turns out it's not. It's surprising the amount of innovation sega was able to cram into their rail shooters, really excited to try out the other ones, this one was a blast.

about 1000 times better than remake. looks better, feels snappier, doesnt feel like it's trying to troll me nearly as much somehow? boss on stage 3 sucks SOOO much less here. the boss on stage 4 still sucks but at least it didnt take me an eternity to kill it. that said virtua cop 2 is better

completed in default settings

Having played the second installment of the franchise on console first, I have to say it makes quite the difference to play it on an arcade. Improves the experience tenfold, especially with friends. Voice acting also a cherry on top, still.

This game is bullshit from hell but its also great it really makes you think

The spookiest use of light gun arcade tech ever. Suck it, Time Crisis.

Just beaten this with a friend and I have to say that I’m impressed with some of the visuals. Like the final boss’s character design is one I almost never see in games and wish for it more.

It can't get much higher than a 4/5 because it's House of the Dead and although it is really fun, there isn't a whole lot to it outside of what you see in the first level. It's an arcade game, so that's fine, just doesn't get that perfect video game score.

me playing this on an emulator
yah go ahead take all my money iam so rich

an arcade experience like no other

House of the Dead is not a perfect game, but a lot of what holds it back is its nature as a quarter eating arcade game. A lot of the time there is no way to avoid damage, save survivors or get the precious few helpful items in the game without replaying it over and over again

But if you can get past that (such as with a home port) it is a blast to play. Action is fast, shooting zombies feels fun, there are tons of creative moments in the game, and the voice acting & story is so bad that it's awesome. I love this game to bits.

Above average arcade shooter for the time. Balanced the style with the arcade mechanics pretty well.

Really fun time, awesome visuals and sounds, I beat the entire thing with my cousin in a random arcade at a beach. It cost A LOT of quarters.

The main fault of this game is that it is extremely cheap often, there are so many moments that are just straight up bullshit, added just to fuck you over and make you spend more.

Also top tier voice acting. Don't expect to get through this without dying a lot, there will be countless cheap deaths, but despite this, it can be a fun time.

Great start to a great series. still its far from the best in the series.

A classic of 90s arcade coin munchers. Has a number of cheap spots to steal a few lives from you, but overall it holds up well and the soundtrack is secretly incredible (but you would barely be able to hear it at the arcades)

i would give this a higher rating but theirs 2 big downsides to this game 1 the final boss of all the house of the dead games are just bullshit there designed to kill you not to give you a chance just to kill you its annoying 2nd it repeats bosses its lazy hate that in games

Used to play this game all the time when I was a kid. I still remember how amazing it felt to finally beat the game with a friend. Played it again recently and it's still as fun as I remember
