A fantastic and strikingly stylish top-down beat 'em-up with an amazing jazz soundtrack. I have little to say, other than "It's great stuff."- the controls are simple to get the hang of and the enemies are easily discernible, the level designs are fun to bash through and support the frenetic and stressful [compliment] gameplay. Restarting after a death is quick and the levels are short enough that restarting doesn't feel entirely demoralizing. I cannot recommend this game enough if you like games like Hotline Miami.

Short little game with amazing presentation and style. Gameplay-wise, the best moments happen when you feel unstoppable, such as when you find a very small room packed with enemies that are annihilated in the blink of an eye by the sheer force of the ape. Sadly, the focus is instead on the challenge of overcoming all the obstacles that the enemies throw at you throughout the level. To succeed, you have to play more carefully, waiting around corners until enemies get closer so you can kill them, and such. However, playing like that is just lame. The music and aesthetic urge you to keep running and killing, but the level design, which is randomized in some levels, demands cautious gameplay. In the end, it makes for an experience that was very close to realizing its true potential, but because of the level design and the limited toolset of the ape (grabbing and pushing enemies, you can also grab the limbs of dead enemies to throw them, though this slows you down too much to be worthwhile, and that's it, that's all the ape can do), and the inherent weakness of the ape itself (dying in just 3 gunshots, making charging in not viable a lot of the time), it falls short of reaching it.

The game features a hard mode, so if the first run focused on feeling unstoppable and the hard mode concentrated on the challenge of enemies, it would be a truly outstanding game. Still, it's very short, it's creative in its scenarios for every level, and just for the presentation alone, it's worth playing.

Se siente fenomenal matar gente y la integración de la música, y el apartado visual es fantástico

Love the style of this game and the dynamic music that goes a long with it. Glad i came back to finish this game!

LÁ VEM O MACACO CORRENDO ATRAS DE MIMMMMMM

After the hair-raising action in the Hotline Miami series, I always want to return there. A slight taste of blood on the bitten lips, trembling in the hands from adrenaline rushes and finally an absolute loss of contact with reality. You, like a machine, count your rhythm in your head, hone your skills and get a thrill from the endless retrowave combined with brutal scenes. Ape Out, in part, was able to return that feeling of drive to me, only in a slightly different style.

We will play as an unnamed gorilla who is kept in a cage in a highly guarded secret facility. It is not completely known whether we were experimented with, but we understand one thing for sure - our hero is tired of sitting in a cage. At one point we decide to escape and now we have no way back. It's time to show humanity that their time has passed and punish them for all the cruelties that they allowed themselves against our fellow humans.

The gameplay here is extremely simple - we will play as an orange gorilla and our task is to find a way out of the level. On the way we will meet various opponents whom we can kill. Our hero knows how to grab into his paws some objects and even enemies, who will be our human shield and our weapon. Our gorilla's body can withstand only three shots, after which we will be sent to the beginning of the level. The gameplay will be accompanied by selected jazz compositions, which force you to mechanically beat out the rhythm with your feet under the table. The faster we go through the level, the more the sound will accelerate, turning the whole process into an enchanting show. In fact, we ourselves choose the pace of the game and the manner of passing. The graphic component here is minimalistic, but quite stylish and will constantly change depending on the conditions. Gray walls of a scientific center, a wooden deck of a cargo ship or a jungle on fire - every time the game will surprise us with new conditions and possibilities. At first it seems that the main character’s lack of firearms is a serious disadvantage, but soon you will understand that there is a special pleasure in this. If you're missing the brutal action of Hotline Miami, this is the place for you. A great time killer for one evening.

Flashy, amazing presentation, and especially the soundtrack. There's not a lot of depth to its core concept, hotline miami but you're an ape on the loose, but all of its individual artistic elements shine through in its audio and soundtrack design, its art style, presentation, and masterful rhythmic gameplay.

Pretty cool action game, love the visuals and music. Fond memories of playing through this with my cousin.

Incredibile, just incredible. A two hour masterpiece: the jazz, the responsiveness, the APE, the details, all the way from the beginning to the end. Made me wish there was more

Gorila solto nos EUA com Jazz de fundo (bom)

played this years ago when it was free on epic. didn't love it.

A fun little game with a simple goal of reaching the end of the level as monkey. It gets pretty hard pretty fast and I couldn't figure out if it was better to rush through the levels or to go slow and sneaky mode. The lack of options of dealing with the enemies makes this super hard since they all have guns and you only get a few seconds of time after they see you to do something before they start shooting you.

Really satisfying gameplay paired with great soundtrack that reacts to your actions. Good level design with different routes and overall very polished.

visualmente e auditivamente fixe, mas a gameplay é só okay

A masterpiece. Beaten (normal mode) first on the Switch then later on the Steam Deck. Specially great if you like jazz music.

Beautifully stylized game with a gameloop I'm lukewarm with. I love how it looks and how the sound plays in, but the gameplay itself is just alright. Wonderful piece of art, alright game.

This is like my morning routine

Fast paced gameplay with eccentric art and music; tremendously unique experience.

Omg, Omg.

A very fun audio and visual experience.

As a big sound enjoyer, my favorite part of the game was when I would do something and then a loud sound would play, almost emphasizing the fact that I just did something. Not many games do this! Or maybe my favorite part was when the 30 seconds of sporadic dissonant instruments would suddenly turn into 5 seconds of almost cohesive music, often times brought upon me doing something :O.

I will admit that by the 3rd album the steam from the first two albums was starting to run low for me and the background brain chatter, that is almost standard for a human of the modern era, began to creep it's way back in. I was forgetting my Ape roots.

But the game was able to clutch it up by the end of the 4th album, where I escaped with other mistreated caged animals and was treated to probably the craziest credits song I've ever heard in a video game. I loved that part and listened to it for longer than I'd like to admit.

Overall, it's a real ape experience and you probably won't find a better ape experience out there. The Donkey Kong Country trilogy got nothing on Ape Out. You could play 4000 hours of Winston in Top 500 and that wouldn't even compare to the angry beast I became every time I heard a loud cymbal crash.
