Bloodwash is honestly a very entertaining game for what it is, especially for a quick spooky season game.

The game does a good job of building the atmosphere and tension as it progresses. Old school PS1 graphics and the CRT/VHS effect create a nice nostalgic and grimy feel. One of my favorite parts about this game are all the interactive items in the environment that you can use to pass the time (of those items the comics were the best and left me wanting to read more). Some funny moments and decent voice acting are also a nice touch.

As far as play time goes the game is relatively short, and the story isn't complex or groundbreaking in anyway. As I mentioned before the game does a good job at building the atmosphere and tension, but a bulk of the horror is based off jump scares. These issues weren't major for me because the game has such a low price tag it was honestly to be expected. Definitely a good cheap game to pick up and enjoy during October.

I'd shit a brick every time I had to cross the car park to get from the store to the laundromat and then I had this galaxy brain moment where I realized that this is what women feel every time they cross through a dark public space late at night. That's right, Bloodwash made this cishet dude understand and even experience to a degree the fear women have about their safety. Oh videogames, is there nothing you can't do?

Puppet Combo's done it again!

By which I mean made the same fuckin' game. Must suck shit living in a world where a loud noise and a dude running are the scariest things you can imagine.

Previsive gameplay, but i am a sucker for horror games that look like kinda old, so yeah, good one, would play again, good pacing tho

Bloodwash is a retro-stylized first person horror game that's well worth the price tag; I paid $4.79 for it but I'd gladly have bought it at $8. The atmosphere is great, the jump scares - while not too outrageous - were well-placed, and I like the chunky style. The CRT VHS filter got a little too annoying near the end there once it wore off its charm (there's a bit where you're running through a dark basement with both the filter and blood splatters on your screen and it makes it really hard to see) and I didn't get much out of the inventory system being as clunky as it was but other than that I had a good time. We need more games like this.
