Do you like momentum in your platformers? Do you like bizarre import games with inscrutable stories and 10 minute long cutscenes? Do you like BANGER soundtracks? Play Chaindive.

In this game you use a rope to grapple onto hooks in the levels, and you can freeze enemies and bosses and smash into them which is both your primary method to deal damage and to move around. When you get used to the controls, the feel of swinging around in the air at high speeds from enemy to enemy, freezing and smashing them is fun as hell. Minus one star for ridiculous difficulty spikes.

only played the first level - motherfkn chaindive

not much to say other than it's pretty fun and cool, love the flow of swinging around while freezing enemies then attack them, the soundtrack is also pretty damn sick and cool, wish the story was translated though i can understand some of the dialogue but i still have no idea what's going on in the story.

Def check this game out Gamplay was really fun an the music was fire wish i could understand the story tho

brief, fun, and unique. being able to freeze enemies and use them as grapple points makes the platforming flow super well. there's a couple weaker and more gimmicky stages, but generally it's pretty tightly designed and satisfying to plow through

definitely worth a look if you like bionic commando or spiderman

Killer ost by Yuji Takenouchi

do yourself a favor and look up the soundtrack

An unpolished but unique high-speed 2.5D Action game. Brings back my memories of Z.O.E2 and Shinobi.

this game is so fucking underrated, an absolute hidden gem
now, granted, this is based on pure visual aesthetic, game mechanics and the music and doesn't take story into account
this game is a JP only game that so very nearly got localized for a US release, but at the last moment was scrapped. we were only graced with a dialogueless demo of the first level on a ps underground disc and it never saw the light of day.

japanese is not necessary to play this game, the controls are simple but hard to master. a decent number of lets plays exist on youtube for this game now, but i don't think any of them are really pleasant to watch or explain how the game works very well

give it a try! if you like interesting platforming action games with unique controls, this game is possibly up your alley. you bungie and grapple and tether around freely and soar through the air in 2.5d and freeze bugs, then shatter them, with a bit of normal platforming thrown in and a good apocalyptic plot for good measure and an evil counterpart as well. reeks of y2k futuristic vibes. it is a wonderful game with a wonderfully flat ending and an INSANELY hard OST
please enjoy chaindive.
