This is a good one as far as rhythm series go. Not my favorite in terms of song selections, but the control scheme's real neat and I'm certainly happy to visit it if I'm at the arcade

CHUNITHM MY BELOVED CHUNITHM <3 <3 <3

Of all the arcade cabinet rhythm games i've played, it's probably my favorite! It's a super fun challenge, and it's always so satisfying unlocking the master difficulty

The song selection is great too! There's a wide variety of songs, and anyone can find at least one they'll enjoy playing

Tragically the closest arcade w chunithm by me is almost an hour away by car, but it's well worth the trip. Getting to play chunithm is always a treat ^^

Very intuitive controls that just put you in the zone once you're on a combo streak. I was on an untranslated cabinet so I had to just deduce most of the setup and song options. Music still slapped from what I experienced.

Had a few weird instances where leaving my fingers on the touch pad too hard or for too long started to slightly overheat my finger tips? Not sure if that was from poor cabinet maintenance or if that's a legit problem.

I haven't spent a lot of time with Chuni but I would argue that this is the most exciting to look at and to play for new gen arcade rhythm game controllers, maybe only contested by dengeki and maimai. no comment on the song list bc I've had so little time on the thing but it's cool, play some Chuni if you get the chance.

Chunithm is an absolute banger, and it being Japan-only is criminal.
I love music games. They're simple and clean and the way that they make you feel is: good. Mastery of a rhythm game is like nothing else, even the pros of, like, Counter Strike or whatever could never hope to be as spectacularly entertaining as a difficulty 13 Voltex player. But they're also welcoming and warm - fighting games can be similarly impressive to view, but without fail they have some kind of wall. In music games, the practice gradient is smooth, and with enough time and effort anyone can be playing Master tracks.

I played Chuni for the first time on the third floor of Sega 2 in Akihabara. I fell in love with it immediately - how could I not, with Scatman John on the tracklist.
Since then, I've learnt how to work a 3d printer, developed soldering and electronics skills, and built my own con (twice over) to play Chuni at home (shh nobody tell sega). It's worth the investment, because every new map is a joy, and perfecting stuff you've played a thousand times feels like smashing Ornstein and Smough into the dirt every time. Chunithm has brought me new hobbies, new skills, new tastes in music, and on top of that, it's just a whole lot of fun. Thanks, Chunithm. Thunithm.

It makes you feel like a kawaii Beethoven

TRÈS IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ow ow ow my hands owwwwwwww

This game will hurt your fingers.

FUCK YEAH
maybe the idea of playing a rhythm game where some of the inputs are just hand movements in the air feels weird to hear but in practice it's amazingly responsive. The map design is also really good in this one and the tech allows them to get really creative. The best arcade rhythm game I've played

A rhythm game that I've enjoyed playing more than others I've been able to, sadly you can only find this in japanese arcades or at anime cons. Round1 has these cabs now

Has a nice concept with having the touchpad and motion sensors which adds a nice level of verticality that you wouldnt expect at all in a rhythm game. If you've played Deemo on your phone then you already know how the touchpad works though since this is a full on arcade machine with a wider range of motion you get some nice patterns that involve actually crossing your arms over/under the other to hit some notes.
The motion sensors register you actually lifting your hand away from the touchpad and keeping it lifted for some notes or dropping it back down. Its a neat gimmick that I enjoy quite a bit.

Has a sizable number of songs. Good chunk of weebshit for the people who like OPs and EDs.

If you get the chance to play one of these machines, bring some headphones. Wear some gloves too unless you're playing on an easier difficulty.
