played the trilogy a long time ago and thought i had never finished the third one, but i definitely did, even tho it shows only like an hour's worth of achievements... i remembered a lot of that game while playing through it

god my memory sucks, i think i consume too much CONTENT

anyway these games are both great and terrible

MOST of the puzzles are very solvable without a guide but every now and then it just throws so many fuckin options at you with very little guidance that you either resign yourself to tedium or just look up a guide... i'd say about two or three puzzles (or Entire Situations) per game are like that? it sucks cause otherwise i think it's a pretty immaculately designed game, very consistent within its own cartoon logic, although you do have to kind of let yourself be an idiot

and then there's the story... most of it is not bad! most of the writing is extremely good! it's fucking funny!

but it's also often extremely sexist and occasionally extremely ableist in ways that make me go ehhahehhwwe, and that fuckin sucks! goal and donna being the main culprits (or, rather, victims), respectively, but the tone carries throughout the entire game even when they're not around

i have a great fondness for this game but it's hard to recommend to anyone i respect because i'd be subjecting them to some real horseshit

ALAS!

still 4/5 stars tho like when it's funny it's funny i dunno i'm weak all right

ps having just come off of randal's monday, a game published by daedalic, and a game whose main character i despised because he was openly a piece of shit, it's a little weird to say, but i find rufus' bullshit far more endearing? maybe cause there are so many other characters calling him out, as opposed to randal, where no one really does, i dunno, but anyway, yeah

Too hard without guide, very funny with tonns of stupid jokes and frustrating in end, because story is strange, if not dumb.

p.s. don't play it only because u like this waifu in white cloth on cover art like me

The way it meant to be played

Great characters, a decent story, and the puzzles are difficult yet rewarding... I'm just not a fan of point of click games, especially when there are so many other enticing game options out there.

i could go on for hours about my toxic love-hate relationship with this fucking game, dude.

Deponia shows Daedalic at their absolute best, shows what's possible with modern point'n'click adventures. This sets the genre's standards so absurdly high I'm not sure they themselves can top it. Everything clicks - the art, the sound, everything thematically - the puzzles are incredibly inventive and shows the proficiency the team has. It masterfully navigates between the most hilarious and the most heartbreaking moments with ease. Absolute must-play for fans of the genre.

I was dying of laughter. Best adventure game

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Deponia. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the puzzles will go over a typical player's head. There's also Rufus's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Deponia truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rufus's existencial catchphrase "Zeeblezooble," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Daedalic Entertainment's genius unfolds itself on their computer screens. What fools... how I pity them. 😂 And yes by the way, I DO have a Deponia tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

Por dios como es que esto no es mainstream?????

Another point and click adventure game where the puzzles’ solutions are absolute nonsense. Couldn’t make it half an hour without needing to consult a guide.

"♫ ORGANON...! OH, OH, ORGANON...! ♫"

I could name you a thousand more examples.

"♫ OH, OH... O' ORGANOOON! ♫"

The fact is: we're the asses here.

"♫ ORGANON...! OH, OH, ORGANON...! ♫"

But is that something to be ashamed of?

"♫ OH, OH.... O' ORGANOOON! ♫"

I say: NO!

"♫ ENDSTATIOOON... ♫"

I, for my part, am proud of what I am.

"♫ ARMAGEDDOOON... OH... ♫"

I - am - an - ASS!

"♫ OOOH... O' ORGANOOON... ♫"

And you're all asses, too!

"♫ ORGANON...! OH, OH, ORGANON...! ♫"

It's time to show the world, what's inside us.

"♫ OH, OH... O' ORGANOOON! ♫"

Long live the ORGANON!

Got these 3 games for free on Epic Game Store and tried them on Twitch. I beat the three games in a row and my first thought is that these 3 games are inegal.

The first one is really good and funny. Rufus is just so funny and the worst asshole ever. The puzzles are not too easy, but not too hard. I'd say the same with the third game that uses the "clones" system very well.

The second game is the worst. The puzzles are hard, illogical. This game just makes no senses sometimes. A good point is that it is darker than the two others (hello baby dolphins), but still, I had to check the solution to continue.

Also, the three games have clicking bug. I used my mouse and had to click many times on something to activate it. Sometimes it's frustrating. Also, the original game is in german... and the translation sucks... and the subtitles are worse since they even have mistakes (I played with french sub with english dub since I'm from Quebec).

Some jokes are lost with the translation too and some tips for the puzzles too.

Except for that, the story is fun, emotionnal, absurd and full of surprises. Also dark like some gags in Conker Bad Fur Day.

This is literally the Ctrl + Alt + Delete type of humor. Did Tim Buckley wrote this? If not kudos for the writer for emulating his style. the art is nice-ish at least

turns out adventure games need good writing

holy shit I hate these characters so much
