HoMM3 - Marvel
Disciples 2 - DC

Though I was a huge HoMM3 fan back in the day, right now I prefer this over Heroes. Since many years have passed - I realised that playing HoMM3 when I was a kid was a pleasure cause I didn't understand many mechanics so that is why I played with cheat codes.
I guess what I always wanted from HoMM3 is simplicity and getting rid of some multi-layering mechanics which have never appeared in HoMM but I found in Disciples.

Maybe I became too lazy, so I don't want to dive into intricate and complex varieties of HoMM3 tactics and strategies, so I picked up Disciples 2 again.

For those who haven't played Discplies - the main difference from the Heros series is that each unit is a unique upgradable entity and of course the aesthetic.

It has a fantastic, distinguished and gloomy aesthetic, simplicity and depth. The overall tone and the atmosphere is like the dark echoing howl.
Such a shame that this game was overshadowed by HoMM3, cause so much soul was put into it.

neat retro game, laptop friendly, etc. Easier to get into than its modern successors too. never finished.
