Divinity rules. Me and Lauren co-opped the whole thing back in the day and it took us like a billion hours to finish it.

Neyse.

Divinity: Original Sin was able to scratch that itch for a adventure: the game really feels like an epic fantasy journey. That feeling lasts through the entire experience, with a great combat to accompany it.

The story is probably it's weakest part, but it's not bad by any means.

Great game. A must-play for everyone who loves RPGs.

This is why I knew Baldur's Gate was going to rule.

I'm sitting here roughly 9 years after the release of this edition of this game and two things keep running through my mind. The first - where the hell have the last 9 years gone? And secondly - what was this game about?

I think that the fact that I remember so little about this game's narrative, yet it is one of my favorite RPGs ever, says a great deals about how well this title plays (and maybe something else about my memory).

I suppose I could just go back...

Hopped on this after the BG3 withdrawals kicked in and unfortunately this feels every second of it's age. Respect it for never holding your hand, but it's also incredibly frustrating to be stuck not knowing who killed some twat I'm not even sure I care about!

Sights & Sounds
- Characters and designs are all pretty good and blend well with the setting & aesthetic
- The music is certainly memorable. Some of it is catchy, but a few songs will get lodged firmly in your mind (especially the tavern theme. You'll see what I mean)
- For a strategy game, the isometric perspective is useful, but it's worth zooming in every now and then, or you'll miss some of the nice artistic detail put into this game

Story & Vibes
- At first, I really loved the story. It was a cool murder mystery in a fantasy setting with a lot of twists and turns
- Unfortunately, after the cool part, there's still 40 more hours to go
- I didn't actually beat the game. I got very close, but lost interest when I got to Hunter's Edge. The game really does drag on

Playability & Replayability
- Your enjoyment of this game is highly dependent of your enjoyment of strategic turn-based fights
- Even if, like me, you think they're fine, you'll get tired of them. You have to have a passion for this type of game to complete it
- Probably not coming back to this one, but I'm interested in giving D:OS2 a try someday
- Honestly, I think I would have finished this game had I started it on the easiest difficulty to progress more quickly

Overall Impressions & Performance
- The game ran extremely well. Didn't encounter a single frame drop or audio stutter
- No crashes or bugs either, but check other reviews. Some people did run into issues

Final Verdict
- 6.5/10. If you don't mind a story that really, really takes its time and like turn-based gridless strategy fights, you'll probably love this game. Even if you only thought it was okay like myself, it's still a really good bang for your buck

1) Огромное разнообразие противников;
2) Количество контента на каждой новой локации;
3) Хорошее музыкальное сопровождение;
4) Вариативность решения ситуаций;
1) Гринд волл. Финал игры вы не пройдете, если не соберете все звездные камни и кровавики. Вам буквально перед финалом говорит башка в стене, что пока не соберешь все камешки, то я тебя не пропущу. Ларианы могут идти нахуй за такую идею;
2) Отвратительная предфинальная локация, где Ларианы зачем-то по всей карте раскидали тонну ловушек, из-за чего вам постоянно приходится останавливаться и хиллить весь отряд;
3) Некоторые квесты буквально можно закрыть, только посмотрев на ютубе подсказки, потому что сама игра никаких наводок не дает, а ты, как игрок, вроде все сделал првильно, но задание у тебя не закрывается;
4) Игру надо было делать короче, слишком затянуто;

Weirdly enough, I liked this one more than DOS2, maybe because it's kinda goofier?

Divinity: Original Sin is set in the same universe as the series launched by Larian studio in 2002. Combat in Original Sin is turn-based and isometric. It was released on June 30, 2014 exclusively for the PC platform. The game's story takes place before the events of the studio's first game in the series, Divine Divinity, and allows players to better understand the story of the game's universe, as well as reunite with many old familiar characters from the first games, such as fan-favorite magician Arhu, who can transform into a cute cat.

Original Sin also expands the theme of the universe considerably compared to previous games. In the game, we take on the role of two young hunters who must discover the secrets of forbidden magic and counter its effects. They both soon discover that an exceptional and even greater inexplicable fate awaits them and they embark on an adventure. In single-player mode, you can manage a team of up to four people in total, in addition to the two main characters we created. There is also a multiplayer mode. The game features a special group conversation system between party members. Even when we play alone, our character diversifies the game with interesting dialogues reminiscent of the Baldur's Gate series of games.

In contrast, players control two protagonists and can make choices that equally determine the fate of the party, even if they don't completely agree with each other. Both characters have a different say in the dialogs. Team play is important in battle, as many skills, especially magical, can be combined into powerful combinations that make winning a fight much easier. In battle, for example, the team can make it rain on an area and then freeze or shock newly soaked opponents.

Playing with different combinations of team attacks in this way is much more fun than playing individually. During battle we can also use elements of the environment. There is extensive interaction with objects and they are used not only for combat purposes, but also to solve puzzles and create new objects. A year and a half after the release of the game, on October 27, 2015, an improved version of the classic game was released. The new version was developed by Larian Studios, the same team that worked on the original game. The new version brings console support to the game. There were also a few other important changes in the enhanced version.

First of all, the story has been changed and elaborated. Many new quests and characters to be encountered in connection with these quests and a unique ending were added. The game's interface was also adapted specifically for the Gamepad. Game mechanics have been modified, a new mode has been added and the visuals have been improved. Anyone who owned the original game on the PC version received the enhanced edition for free, only saves from the original game could not be transferred to the enhanced edition. Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition has more beautiful graphics and better sound effects compared to the original game, all characters have been re-voiced in the enhanced version. DirectX 11 support has been added to the game's engine. With the new version, the game has reached an average of 100 hours of gameplay.

Divinity: Original Sin - Enhanced Edition is a huge throwback to classic, hardcore RPGs. The turn-based combat is awesome, the world is incredibly reactive, and there are so many ways to approach quests...it's overwhelming at first! The story's great, and the writing is often hilarious but be warned: this game is unforgiving and expects you to figure things out. If you're up for a challenge and love the idea of exploring a fantasy world with tons of freedom, it's definitely worth diving in!

I played on the easiest difficulty because I'm unfamiliar with turn-based fantasy RPGs and I got defeated by a bunch of ghost-wolves in the first chapter dawg I'm ashamed to call myself a gamer after this.

Still a great tactical RPG that has hardly lost any of its charm. What I actually noticed negatively is the fact that the writing is sometimes quite silly, especially in the first half of the game. Every joke, no matter how stupid, is included here, sometimes it's amusing but it quickly becomes too much. Apart from that, the game totally won me over, the music is sooooo good, I can't believe it. Kirill Pokrovsky was simply a gift from the gods and he left us far too soon :/ I also found the story quite convincing towards the end and the sheer amount of content is overwhelming. Even if the second game is better, you should definitely play this one :)

I put 70 hours into this but was done with it way before. I dropped this game a first time after 30 hours and thought id give it another shot. The best thing about it was the freedom of the battles and interacting with objects. Everything else was generic fantasy stuff. Also too cartoony/goofy aesthetic for me.

The superior version in every way pretend the OG dosent exist

Loved everything about this game, except for the traps and elemental puzzles connected to them. More you progress in the game, more traps and trap-puzzles there will be and in the end it's all about traps and puzzles with barely any combat, exploration or story progression. Clearing the traps was just not fun and it became extremely boring and tedious. Was expecting something like Baldur's Gate, but this was definitely not it.

divinity: original sin shines with its environmental mechanics and vivid world, but the writing and plot fails to meaningfully grip my attention

Playing this after the second one and baldur's gate 3 just feels bad.

Of Original Sin, I liked the combat. Like other fantasy RPGs of its ilk, it revolves around finding the right combination of elemental powers to dominate your enemies with; there's little that can beat the pure dopamine rush when you find it. Everything else about the game, well... Annoying crash bugs (including one that made me have to look up the ending) aside, this is a game that doesn't quite know whether it wants to be a satire or straight-laced approach to the genre. Disappointing.

Divinity: Original Sin is a game I think is fun and probably worth a shot, but, unfortunately, it just wasn’t my thing.

Starting with good points, the graphics are nice, the game is stylized, very vibrant, colorful and the art style is pretty cool. The OST is pretty good, with some catchy tracks that got me to look it up. Combat can be fun, as there are some interesting mechanics and ways attacks and status effects can interact (talking about the different elements you can wield). Interacting with the world is pretty fun, as there are some physics based puzzles or areas that become easier or accessible with certain spells (like rain).

Having two protagonists creates funny situations if they regularly disagree, but, I feel it also limits the amount of role play you can have on the game. The voice acted dialogue choices also doesn’t help much. The majority of dialogues have only 2 or 3 options, severely limiting role play potential, as you’re pretty much forced to play a goody two shoes character other than some impactless dialogue options.

The game is kinda goofy. There are many jokes, in item descriptions, quest logs, and, most notably, in character writing and voice lines. Overall, characters are super dramatic and quirky, and the voice acting is very over the top, and you can’t go one second without someone saying a one-liner or making a pun.

I experienced unfun progression. You are thrown into the game super weak, and then it feels like you have to do every single mission possible, even when some missions can be missed forever, before you gain enough ex to level up and tackle higher level missions. In my playthrough, I was constantly having to backtrack and check the wiki to see if I missed anything, or, rather, what I missed, otherwise, I would be underleveled to progress the game.

The combat can be fun, but it is extremely slow, and, many times, even when on the same level, I felt super underleveled in some encounters. It felt like playing on normal was hard and playing on easy was normal, I don’t know, I’m not usually good at these min maxing kind of games. But, at least, when I felt too weak, the easy difficulty made it fair for me. As for the speed, there were some encounters where I would browse my phone because it took so long for my turn.

I had two quests become soft locked because I did something the developers allowed, but I guess it wasn’t intended, like killing a character to get a key to a place I need to be instead of doing a whole quest. I killed him, he dropped the key I needed, but the quest was stuck saying I still needed to complete his quest.

The game doesn’t take itself very seriously, and I can’t really either. Women’s armors are very sexualized and the overall comedic tone the game posses is just not my thing. I might come back later to at least finish the main quest, but, for now, there are other games I want to play more.

I’ve beat Divinity: Original Sin 2 twice before playing this game, and that has definitely influenced my experience — but not in the way I expected. I thought I was going to be frustrated by the lack of certain improvements found in the sequel or overall less interested in the world after spending 200 hours in it in the last few years. But it was actually the opposite. Having the benefit of playing the Enhanced Edition many years after the original release date, I found DOS1 to be surprisingly polished and friendly. Almost everything I loved from the sequel was here, albeit different. I even preferred some aspects here, like combat, which is less complex but also less chaotic and more immediate (the armor system of the sequel is a choice). The story also benefited from the narrower focus. It doesn’t have huge twists but it’s intriguing and engaging, with memorable characters and a neat Homestead you can come back to after lengthy quests for a bit of a breather.
Overall, I found DOS1 an essential play for DOS2 fans — not because it’s necessary to understand or enjoy the sequel (it’s actually the opposite), but because it’s just as good. Play it before, after, it doesn’t matter — but play it!

I enjoyed it for a bit but couldn't bring myself to play more of it after finishing DOS 2 which I found to be better in every way
