It experiments with a few unique gameplay ideas, but I don't think they pan out very well. The first person sections are just dull and don't really add anything of value. I get trying to add a sense of exploring the mansion, but it just didn't work well. The action platforming itself is serviceable, and the premise is cool, but ultimately too clunky as a whole.

Also, I think Michael's brother is a prepper. What sort of lunatic has dozens of grenades and weapons stashed in their house?

Full disclosure: I have nostalgia-goggles for this.

Early-era sidescrolling that switches in to NSEW 1st person room searching for portals in to other worlds where you're back in side scrolling. The mechanics of this game are rough but the tone is wonderful 80's camp and it awoke something inside me as a kid. Intro'd me to a lot of horror cliches (zombies, flying skulls, body horror).

If you don't play it, at least take a look thru the spritesheets for some sensible chuckles.
