PEAK I WANT KARIN TO STEP ON ME

I never finished this because I had a major skill issue.

I don't even have anything against random encounters - my problem with Enchanted Arms is that the combat is so braindead and unfun that the most playable way is to press the "auto" button on every non-boss fight. The thing about this is, every 5 seconds of walking through the empty boring world you'll have to wait 20 seconds for a battle to finish itself while you press "auto." Shockingly boring and easy.

I spent a good long while with “Enchanted Arms” but eventually I just grew kinda tired of it. The story wasn’t interesting anymore and the novelty of its cheesiness wore off. I tried to persevere and who knows, I may come back to it one day, but became sort of long in the tooth for a game that basically made me feel like I’d seen all there was to see after the fifteen hour mark. I still admire the game on a few levels. It’s sort of campy in a weird way and feels like a throwback to a very specific time of the early PS2 era and the budget RPG’s of that time. I also felt a lot of respect for how the developers tried their best to overcome its low budget. There’s definitely some things to love about this game, but as for now, I’m done with it.

One of the worst J-RPGs I've ever played. It's honestly hard to believe this was developed by From Soft.

Enchanted Arms has a horrible, janky grid-based battle system and mechanics that are exploitable as hell and either piss easy or impossibly hard. The difficulty spikes are just ridiculous plus this is the peak of tedious, excessive J-RPG level grinding. The characters are the most cardboard cutout clichés of anime tropes and the story is just as bad. It's painfully generic and boring. Plus the dub is easily one of the worst I've ever heard. People complain about FF X, but like Enchanted Arms is like if you took the Tidus laugh scene (despite that scene actually making sense in context) and made it into an entire game.

There is absolutely nothing redeemable about Enchanted Arms except the art direction and character designs being pretty cool.

Enchanted Arms is Fromsoft's attempt to replicate the style of the PS2 era Final Fantasy games, but on a budget that seems lower than some RPG Maker games.

As far as the positives go I think there's quite a bit to like here. The combat is a simple but effective take on a SJRPG, the characters are all a lot of fun, and the monster designs ooze with that Fromsoft charm. I wouldn't really call the overall writing great, but it got quite a few chuckles out of me and the main character is the ultimate himbo. The voice acting is also pretty great, in the sense that it's ridiculously cheesy and over the top, though your mileage my vary on that.

There's definitely plenty to hate about this game though. The actual plot is pretty uninspired JRPG fare, the environments look like bad mid 2000s tech demos, it runs pretty bad, the encounter rate is too high, the pacing sucks, etc. etc.

Overall, I think this game is worth taking a look at if you're a Fromsoft and JRPG fan. It's got tons of jank and terrible decisions, but the Fromsoft charm shines through and I enjoyed my time with it.

Average Game of the Year for 2006, with nothing particularly outstanding about it but also nothing particularly bad about it beyond being a little too easy.

A mí me gustó.

well, it's an average game from the early days of the PS3. but it's not unplayable and i enjoyed its story and interesting combat mechanics. it was the very first PS3 game i got so it holds a special place in my heart. Lol.

Enchanted Arms gets a 10/10 for me in terms of nostalgia, characters, music, gameplay, STORY. it is in my opinion From Soft's best underrated game of all time.

I got this with my 360 at launch and enjoyed it greatly at the time, but I think I was just excited about having a new console. When I revisited it, I didn't...dislike it, but it's pretty indistinct on every level.
