Nice trip down memory lane, but after the second set of ruins fighting became a bit of a chore. Still was fun enough.

I liked how unused party members still scaled and gained FP (?)(points to learn new abilities)

lame mechanics and mind numbing dungeon crawling. Music and characters are fun. Maybe you can get something out of it but I personally had a hard time playing more than 3 hours of it =w=;

A pretty slow, basic RPG. Felt outdated to me even back when I rented it in the early 2000s.

This game’s story is weird. The characterizations are weird.
The gameplay is fun.
The dungeons are procedurally generated.
I couldn’t get into it at first. But I soon found myself playing for hours, power leveling and just enjoying exploring for extra stuff in these random dungeons.
If you are patient, this game will reward you with some really interesting mechanics and story. The mechanics aren’t anything exceptional, but they are fun.
Worth a visit. Along with its sequel, or you can play the GameCube port (Evolution World) that smushed the two games together, cutting a good chunk of the first game out.
Also a NeoGeo Pocket version of these games exists. I can’t remember if it’s regular or extra colory NGP
