This game is full of really good little ideas and nice little flavorful touches. The game keeps track of real-world time, and there is a lot of bonus content that is only accessible at certain (real-world) times. There's a tabloid that spans the entire game world and that provides heavily-embellished (and sometimes plain inaccurate) updates on your exploits. There's even the most creative alternative to inns in an RPG that I know of: each town you visit has a woman you can romance into becoming your mistress who you can then visit anytime for a full heal.

Unfortunately, its core plot and gameplay is quite unremarkable. Your characters get extremely similar spell sets, and one character whose gimmick is that they have two different forms was so unremarkable that I nearly got to the end of the game before I remembered that they could switch forms. Ultimately it had great window dressing but didn't blow me away.
