Out of all the three new modes introduced in Chapter 5, Fortnite Festival is easily the best, as a fan of the Guitar Hero and Rock Band games. The gameplay is almost identical to Rock Band, but tweaked for playing on a keyboard, which I think is a benefit. The song selections are also great, with a wide variety of genres. And even a few original songs are in there too. The drawback though is that they're all on rotation, but can be purchased permanently in the item shop for $5, which is over twice more than a DLC song in RB4. However if one person owns it, everyone can play it, which is much better than how DLC songs were handled in Rock Band 4, for better and for worse. There's also no practice mode either.
Here's where things get sour.
As for controller support: It's a total disaster. Only specific RB4 controllers and the Riffmaster work, no legacy controllers work at all. However with the power of external tools, You can spoof a Festival-Compatible controller and play with most legacy instruments. Get fucked Epic.
Although I think my other bigdisappointment in Festival is the lack of motion capture, which really gave the GH/RB games a lot of it's charm (and hilarity with mods). This may have been done to save space which is respectable, but it's such a huge missed opportunity. Regardless of all the bullshit that's attached to it, it's still a pretty alright mode, even if it's a far-cry from a traditional Guitar Hero or Rock band game

My rhythm game brainrot still goes strong and Fortnite is becoming part of it as well. HOWEVER, locking songs for $5 EACH just doesn't go well with me, though that might be because I've been spoiled by Clone Hero and Osu!
At least, if you play it with other players you can play the songs they bring up so that's a very strong saving grace, other than that, this would be an easy 0.5

Pretty good! Has some issues but i’m always willing to support a rhythm game in the mainstream considering how niche the genre is. Besides bugs, one of the biggest issues was just the lack of (good) content. the songs chosen aren’t that great and not even just in the sense that i don’t like them. most of the songs chose just don’t translate into charts that are fun to play. most of the songs picked are boring pop songs with easy and repetitive charts. i highly regret buying seven nation army cuz now everyone is trying to play that boring ass song from my shared library and it makes me never wanna play online. speaking of never playing online, i fucking hate featured songs! due to what i assume is the quest from playing featured songs, everyone pick them in online lobbies. hearing barbie girl that many times can drive a person insane! looking forward to season 2 and i hope they shape fortnite festival into its own thing throughout its lifetime. hoping for some variety in the venues, more interesting songs, and maybe even customizable lanes. so many features they could add to the game so i really hope improve this game a lot more.
Like coming home to an old friend but unfortunately he was in a car accident and hasn't really been the same since in many senses. I was hooked for a few weeks but I stopped playing it for a while and have no interest in coming back for now. I don't think its the anhedonia.
Awful setlist, half of this soundtrack is phone commercial tier.
