It's alright, not awful but certainly not great. No matter what your opinion is on the film, the game is heavily held back by only covering a single movie. Many scenes from the movie are painfully stretched out to pad the game out. Also, the shooting gallery sections are neat the first few times but become dull fast. The roster also suffers and is pretty weak (when not including DLC).
Now onto the good. The levels despite my earlier criticisms are pretty good, maybe a bit on the long side. And I guess the game looks nice. Not much to really say about this one other than just that it's okay. It's understandable if you just skip this one.

Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens really doesn't need to exist and that's even more obvious with the release of the Skywalker Saga.
Being centered on a single movie, there is a lot of padding and filler in place to stretch out what they had to work with.
The familiar Lego gameplay formula is here and done well just with a setting that struggles to justify earning its own game.
It's certainly not a bad game but I can't recommend The Force Awakens while the Skywalker Saga exists unless you really love this one particular movie.

Lego games are a pretty low bar and this game is terrible by Lego standards. It takes an unoriginal movie and stretches it out to a very long length. There is none of the charm that carries other Lego games and the worlds are bland. It's especially bad when you take into account that the Complete Saga is one of the most beloved Lego games. I used to complete these games to 100% or just about, but with this and Age of Ultron, I finally got too bored to continue
