I only played it for about 4 hours, but I think it's enough. I first learned of this game through Youtubers playing it on early access, then later it showed up at a couple of gaming events. Sometime after it came out of early access, Epic gave it away, so me and a few friends decided to give it a shot.

It's a simple but tried and true premise: Prop Hunt. However, with a Ghostbusters coat over it, as the hiders are ghosts with strange powers possessing objects to hide until midnight, when they get strong enough to attack the seekers, which are ghost hunters equipped to capture or destroy ghosts that must get them before midnight, lest hunter becomes prey.

I had fun playing it with friends, not so much solo. The skills and equipment are interesting, but sometimes things are too hard for ghost hunters, even with the gimmick that makes ghosts easier to detect if they stay put for too long (Ectoplasm meter building up, and automatic taunts every 30 or so seconds). For example, when playing as a ghost I used a skill that allowed me to see hunters in close proximity through walls, and whenever there wasn't anyone close I'd spam jump to lower the ectoplasm, and they couldn't find me even with the taunts since the meter was always low.

Despite the balancing, it's still a fun game with friends, and getting it for free made it even better, as I'm not sure I'd have paid for it. If you can get some people together to play it, it's a great "game night weekend" title, as long as you avoid getting or playing with sweaty players.

SCORE: 7/10

Fun concept, but no matter how the balancing changes with each update it always feels off

why dont we play this game again guys

Prophunt. The gameplay is pretty solid and the game has some weapons to choose from. Well it kinda is a prophunt from Garry's Mod but it is a decent game. Overall, would play again. 6/10

Slightly better take on Prop Hunt but extremely jank UI and UX (like alot of amateur multiplayer games around right now)

Prop Hunt from Garry's Mod turned into a larger product. Isn't awful, but not a fan of the imbalance between the teams and the limited amount of interaction on the maps. It's okay.

my friends wouldnt play with me so I refunded after 40 minutes of gameplay. Probably would have been a 4 star if my mates actually hopped on.

Prop hunt with ghost with powers. It's repetitive and you can unlock everything too fast

Got the game for free on Epic and played it with a few friends and had my good fun with it. It has some nice elements to it but gets repetitive pretty fast.

A strong prop hunt game with a lot of fun choices, progression and some excellent mechanics to play around with. Visually it can be a little all over the place regarding camera, especially as a ghost which can cause problems trying to even be effective in the post midnight countdown. Everything looks pretty good, there's just so much visual stimulus with deep toned lighting that can drown out some of the necessary info in a game. Just takes getting used to im sure but was still a little fuzzy at the end of the 3 hours ive played so far. Some weapons and tools are also pretty difficult to use, but it gives enough variety and feels as though even with anything's shortcoming, the game is effectively balanced enough. I do wish there were some more appealing cosmetics, but a couple of the fun things they have are interesting.

Part of the charm of this sort of thing is the retro act of having free voice chat with no restrictions. Lots of mic spammers but all the ones i ran across seemed mostly nice and decently funny. Apparently there's some casual slurs according to my more experienced friend, which is a bummer. But when it's goofy fun, sign me up. The game even encourages it a bit with some ghost powers centered on using VC as a mechanic, a fun touch.

It's prop hunt.

GMod's is better, but i guess you can play this if you somehow don't have GMod?? Fun for like an hour with a group of friends before you get tired of people leaving early if they don't get on the prop team and other broadly janky netcode. And for a game that is currently free on Epic, an hour of entertainment is all it needs to be. Can't imagine paying 20 bucks for it though
