Playing through this was great. Didn't do much post-game since it wants you to grind the same content over and over to raise your hunter level to be allowed to fight new stuff.

I gotta be honest, when I first tried the series, I was frustrated by hit. I remember trying to be up a Great Maccao, and being really frustrated by the janky controls, the weird slow methodical approach the game required, and the fact that every monster felt faster and more menacing than you (I guess I was just a silly dumb idiot...)

THen I kept playing... and sweating... and trying to get used to all of it.... then I beaten the Great Maccao, and kept playing... and playing, and playing....

Now Monster Hunter is one of my favorite series. The amount of addictive fights I had with this title alone is outstanding and lets you come back over and over again. Over 90 amazingly designed creatures not only make this game almost infinite, but also a sort of celebration to the history of the franchise up to that point.

It is a series that is hard to get into it, but when you join the ranks and experience the thrill of the hunt, either alone or togheter with others, there is no escape.

Monster Hunter is peak. Highly recommended.

Even after all the hours I've put into this game, I still fucking suck at it. Also shoutout my fellow Hammer Gang

Stopped playing after like 80 hours. This is the only Monster Hunter game that has TOO MUCH content in my opinion. The end-game grind is just tedious.

Thank god these games got better.

The last bastion of the old way of monster hunting, sometimes I return to this game to remind myself how tough monster hunter used to be and so I dont get soft having to bring my own wetstones, not being able to move drinking potions, getting knocked back into a different zone so now there is 2 loading screens between you and the monster, having to throw a paintball to find the monster on the map, ect.

A tasteless sludge of recycled content .
The more I play other game in the series , the more this game show how it understands nothing about what make the other game specials , its only strenght is the combat system and the very few new monsters .
MHGU has the worst pacing in the series , recycles assets that don't mesh together and has to mudy up everything with bad visual filters , the vibes are non existent and its just "look its x from that one game" all the way trough and bad .
I hate this game
best rendition of the Switch axe tho

I lost this game in a fire, but it was a great other side of a coin, viewing backwards into Mon Hun past while also playing MHW to view its future. This one is in some ways easier and others more difficult than MHW in terms of the heights I reached, but overall it is tougher, and there are a lot more moving pieces. But it has a huge amount of creatures, great gameplay(naturally), and feels great on the switch. Also you can play as a palico, a wonderful feature. I want to revisit it every now and then, but can't get back my progress and so I feel a little bummed about doing so.

Technically better than MH4U, which kills me because I loved that game's story and novelty. But this game just plain plays better and is in HD

It's just even more Monster Hunter Generations!
What more can I ask for?

it's peak...

I still like 4U better, but monster hunter is monster hunter, the difference between the games I like and the games I love isn't really that big. this is a very fun celebration of the series up to this point

VALSTRAX IS FUCKING COOL

no idea how this game franchise got off the ground as a handheld series. world is so much better

Es un juego excelente que ningun nenazo te diga lo contrario

One of the greatest MH games to date. Full of incredible content and really feels complete.

Ahtal ka and Valstrax are both insanely cool.

No better argument for "less is more".

There is good stuff here, but the way it's presented is so frustrating. There's a version of this game that still includes a broad selection of monsters, and directs you through the best fights the series has to offer. But it does the opposite, forcing you to play a weirdly small pool of monsters over and over again, many of whom are just bad fights.

To wit, the key and urgent quests force you to fight Plesioth three times, while only having you fight four different elders. Over the course of twenty one village and hub ranks, you have to fight Narkarkos twice, Shagaru three times, Valstrax twice, and Lao-Shan Lung once. The game celebrating MH history can be beaten while only seeing one elder from before 4th gen. But don't worry, they make sure you have to fight Gravios three times.

All of this compounds with brand new systems that work to completely obscure the worthwhile content. Can't upgrade your weapons without slogging through hypers. Can't fight G rank deviants without grinding all of their low rank versions. Hell, the only reason I finished the game is because I wanted to fight Ahtal-Ka. Great fight! Not worth the time it took to get there.

I feel guilty about rating it so low, cause it's still Monster Hunter, but it's hard to imagine a worse way to make an anniversary collection.

Old MH being celebrated with a barrage of monsters, the addition of styles and arts, and a ton of content that doesn't feel stale. There is a strong argument for the bloat of content feeling wack for how many nonsenses quests the hub has versus what you actually should be doing, but if you're someone who likes to just cozy clear quests with friends or randoms online, or even alone; this game has it all. It isn't the best title by any means, and older titles do some of it better and are more fulfilling, but there is something so satisfying about that "action movie with a bucket of popcorn" feeling that GU has

OMG, sooo like, Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is totes rad but maybeee kinda lacking in the new fancy stuff that World and newer games in da series have, ya know? >w<
Clunkerss at times cuz itz older .. can take a second 2 get used 2 it again or if you r new!! Patience is so important!!!! Hard game!!!
But OMG, it's still like, so full of depth with all those cool systems and monsters! It's like a TOTAL nostalgia trip, bringing back all those vibez every Monster Hunter fan cud totally 'preciate! Chyeah so It's like a mixtape of the best hunts evurr, with hourz and hourz of epic gameplay waiting 4 u! And between Intense 1v1s or OMG, the multiplayer iz just chef's kiss MWAH with so much variety in wutevr u could wanna do! hehe :3 🎮💖✨

i've put more hours into this than i would like to admit

AAAAAAAAOAOAOAOAOAOAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

i love the aerial style with the old school gunlance it gave it mobility

i love valstrax theme

The better version of an already great monster hunter game. So much content especially with the g-rank expansion. The hunter arts are always fun (especially adept). Lot of memories made on generations

If I knew Monster Hunter would start catering to MMO-brained metagamers I never would've skipped this one initially.

This used to be one of my favorites, but the more you play this game, the closer you get to fully completing it, and the better you understand the mechanics, motion values, and the weapon balance, you realize how flimsy and half-baked this game is. Tons of content, but almost none of it worthwhile or fun to do. Bloated attacks, terrible "difficulty" on a lot of the postgame challenges, some of the worst weapon balance in the entire franchise if not THE worst (if you're not playing a weapon + style combo in the top 7 or 8, you don't exist), and almost none of it is actually worth doing outside of just "doing it." Don't take my words for it though, but most speedrunners and people REALLY good at this game have all grown jaded over this game after thousands of hours poured into it. I'm sitting at around 2k myself and, I can tell you right now...... it's maybe fun for the first blind go. Don't bother with its postgame unless you're just genuinely bored, or doing it with a first timer. Some of the most superficial that Monster Hunter has gotten.
