This game is a mixed bag. Some game design is questionable, like hidden shops, or the lack of information about how to progress. It can also get boring, besides the same few types of races there is little of interest to do. On the other hand you have a pretty great open map that let you enjoy the "weighted arcade" feel of the cars. There is lots of cars to unlock with lots of visual customization. The graphics can be too blurry for some, but I think that look was "cool" in mid 2000's. An essential study in early-to-mid-2000's culture (lol).

While I fully recognize and respect the influence this game has had on many, it is simply not as good as the original Underground.

They have improved many aspects of the original game, such as making the game open world, improving customization, and handling. But they've also needlessly padded the length of the game and made some questionable additions.

I didn't like the addition of URL and Street X races, which take place on generic tracks far removed from the open world. It doesn't help that the default number of laps you have to complete is way too many. I'd highly recommend downloading Lexal's The Smol Improvement mod, which reduces the number of laps to a more reasonable level.

Aside from these gripes, the game is fun to play, and customizing cars never gets old. Bayview is a nice setting with some iconic landmarks. It's just a shame that it feels underutilized in the races.

The soundtrack is also great, and the intense sense of nostalgia is largely due to it. I'd say it's on par with the original Underground.

Overall, I'd still recommend this game, but not in its default state. If you're playing on the PC, be sure to download the Smol Improvement, the Extra Options, and the widescreen mod. They are almost essential to fully enjoy the game.

Perfeito, meu Need for Speed preferido, icônico principalmente pela música do The Doors, o sistema de customização é vasto e muito bom, um dos melhores sistemas de customização da franquia, dando pra mudar muita coisa do carro, até pequenas coisas, o visual e a estética noturna desse jogo é fenomenal, a trilha sonora é repleta de músicas boas, tem vários modos de corridas, as corridas drag pode ser bem difíceis e é um dos pontos negativos do jogo na minha opinião, outro ponto negativo é o fato das lojas serem desbloqueados quando descobrirmos elas pelo mapa; a seleção de carros é grande, tendo até SUV.

Good game early on, very fun. But as you progress, much like every racing game, the AI's difficulty and skill is rapidly outclassed just by how good your parts get. It gets to the point in the end game where in the final area you're told to do 40+ races and they're challenging only in the way of trying to stay awake in between them. I started this game late last year and it just never got to the point of being fun once you pass stage 3.

I had fun when I first got the game as a kid but nowadays it's just a fucking slog...it's a shame.
