A suprinsingly good horror survival game, don't let the graphics and Word 2006 fonts deceive you. It does an amazing job balancing the usual mechanics presented in a horror survival, feels like a modern Resident Evil done by a single developer, not only in the resource managament aspect but the map aswell, it's really well done. And you can complete in around 2 or 3 hours. Also, Has some cool extras and modifiers that add a ton of replayability even being a kinda small game.

On the personal side a bit slow to me, loved it anyways.

Nightmare of Decay tries to be a love letter to horror games, but I don't think it really hits the mark. This game feels more like a small survival horror project with WAY too many direct references. A lot of the puzzles and things in the game lean closer to being ripped off more than inspired because some of them are exactly the same. I think the perspective also makes it difficult to get used to your character's hitbox and makes it hard to figure out when you can squeeze through enemies fairly, unlike from the original Resident Evils where you can see your model. The story is also dumb, really really dumb with a dumb ending. If your game is ending with 'it was all dream' 'but not really!' then you're already making a mistake. It makes me feel like my character's actions were completely pointless. That being said, for a small indie project it does emulate the feel of a survival horror game, and has good pacing with exploration even if the puzzles are relatively simple. A few places did scare me because they only happen in one area, and a few sections were enjoyable to explore. I think the game is good, but just barely. I hope for future projects the developer focuses on creating his own styles and has more 'inspirations' rather than just taking directly from other games. The extra modes are nice features too, which replayability is important in survival games.

a pretty legit survival horror indie project. costs 5 bucks (2.50 on sale) and you get a pretty good amount of content for that price. having 3 extra gamemodes alongside the main game is pretty impressive.

a little simple in some areas, but i never found myself bored or frustrated. certaintly not as good or complex as the other survival horror giants, but if you have an afternoon and 5 bucks to kill, this wouldn't be a bad way to do it.

Ironically this is a fresh take

A fantastic parody of Survival Horror Games. All the trops are here with Item Managment, weird puzzles and annyoing enemie grabs. The fact that everyone speaks with Banjo-Kazooie noises makes this even better than it already is.

Games graphics are pretty retro yet runs like 50 fps max on a new entry level laptop. Combat is very basic but full of tension. Really cool references, fun, short, somewhat replayable. Altogether, true survival horror experience.

Shinji Mikami originally wanted Resident Evil to be first person.

Better than I'd expected for sure. But still iffy at parts. Cultist enemies are terrible.

It's kind of just the creator's love letter to horror and that's fine really. It's not groundbreaking in gameplay nor is the plot that interesting but its a pretty cool romp.

At first glance I was really critical of this game. Ripping off several themes, gameplay, even explicit puzzles from other titles. But you know what, I fuck with it. The gunplay is incredibly clunky, by design though. I wouldn't call it fun, but there is this draw that makes me want to play through it again to experience that part again. The story doesn't matter, don't even think of that shit. But everything else kinda kicks ass. Especially the atmosphere. There's a dread/relief cycle of exploring/fighting and then back tracing for puzzles and
whatnot.
All in all, worth the 2.5 hours it took me to complete. Definitely worth the time, probably worth the price (esp if on sale)

Mostly "Resident Evil 1 but as a modern survival horror FPS" with a few shout-outs to other horror game series sprinkled in for flavor. I had a really fun time with this, it's made with love and care. Had a kind of impish sense of humor to the way its encounters play out that I really appreciated.

I really liked the game, the downside is that it's pretty short, I got through it in 3 hours. If they added more locations would be super and most importantly to reduce the number of "Holy Flasks", but the last boss killed with two bombs and magnum. Well and mode with a roguelike dungeon is cool.

I don't think this is a game that is going to really impress anyone, but it was a nice quick dose of survival horror one might be looking for

At first, I didn't expect much because it seemed like a very cheap production, but Nightmare of Decay was a very successful production in its own right. The game is full of inspirations and references from many Survival/Horror games, especially Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Amnesia, Cry of Fear. The game has simple puzzles and some okay boss battles. Even though the story is a cliche story of escaping from a nightmare, I didn't care much in a game like this. One of the points that surprised me was that such a game took up 100 MB of space, because there are many sounds and places in the game, and assuming that it was 2 hours long, it was a very successful job. If you like the Survival/Horror genre in general, I can recommend this indie production.

Zambambo nation population me dude! This is the second game I think I have played through next to the original Fallout since I just recently got a new laptop that has some decent hardware to run a bunch of games so I can do more steam stuff that my steamdeck can't.

Anyways this was a fantastic horror game especially for the price. Classic horror game homages with huge references to the original resident evil with the location of a big mansion and loved the easter egg nods to Silent Hill 2. Great experience with a decent difficulty to give some what of a challenge. Putting their own spin on things as the game goes on was pretty cool too, never knowing what to expect. Recommend this one if you need a nice little horror fix for minimum price. I'm curious if these guys made anything else, because this was a blast and would love to play more of their stuff if its like this.

Nothing too interesting to say like ya this is re1 with the first person concept fulfilled. It's kind of funny how some puzzles are straight copy pastes of re1 puzzles and even a room or two iirc. The dev simply did not care, they wanted to make first person re1 damnit!!! Good for them! Good for them.

The final encounter and ending felt a lil anti-climactic but game was overall solid.

Short and sweet! A concentrated dose of low-budget retro style survival horror.

One of the best Resident Evil clones, almost flawless.

First Person RE1. Sounds cooler than it is. Still pretty cool.

A love letter to survival horror.

An excellent indie title that takes many elements from Resident Evil 1 and RE4 and throws in a few easter eggs to other horror games. Takes only an hour or more to beat for a normal playthrough and I enjoyed every minute. I'm not one for speedruns or challenge modes, so I'm content with my one playthrough. Highly recommended.
