Holy cow! Pikmin is as good as they say?!

It took me only a few minutes to fall in love with everything about this game. The level design is absolutely insane! Each stage is jam-packed with goodies, baddies, beautiful scenery, and most importantly, endlessly adorable Pikmin! Working your ass off (or more accurately, the Pikmin's asses off) to collect all of the various fruits might be the most fun I've ever had 100% completing a game, and I only wish there was a little bit more content. As it stands I completed everything in the base game in a little over eight hours, and while there's a lot of fun looking side stuff to do, the core gameplay is so perfect that I can't help but want more of it.

I suppose that means I should move on to the other games in the series, I've heard Pikmin 4 is pretty good!

The worst thing about this game is that it's too short. The day system in the game is absolutely perfect, but you don't get to experience much of it unless you absolutely suck.

I go the bed questioning if I prefer the non-linear and better level design of Pikmin 4 or the art direction, characters, and multitasking of Pikmin 3. Here's my stance; Pikmin 4 is a better made game, but I personally prefer Pikmin 3. Play both obviously (if you can), but I'll stand by my Pikmin 3 any day.
10/10

Played through the whole main campaign because my partner has always been a fan of Pikmin and she encouraged me to do it. But it's just not my thing. Working through the levels felt too much like a chore even when I was managing my pikmin well.

Having no prior experience with Pikmin, I decided to give this one a go in co-op mode. Maybe it needed more time to grow on me, but I wasn't that much a fan of Pikmin management, which felt imprecise and at times frustrating. It was also somewhat difficult to figure out what I was supposed to do next, and so I found it rather stressful.

Who is Louie and why does he keep showing up

Holy moly, I was waiting to get to this game ever since I started marathoning these games. Not because of the HD Graphics or Brittany (maybe), but because I wanted to see how much Pikmin AI has evolved from the past couple of games. A couple generations should have helped fine tune everything, yeah? Well... Yeah! Though maybe to a fault?

I very much enjoy this game, but it is no doubt easier than the first two. Is it a bad thing? No not really, I just very much miss the tension of the previous titles is all.

To start, Pikmin AI is so much better. Never once did I have to worry about my Pikmin getting left behind because they were too slow, nor did I get any anxiety trying to cross a bridge. The biggest changes outside of that are a mixed bag for me. The added lock-on feature is very handy, I won't knock it at all. However, the new Charge mechanic I feel is a huge factor on what makes the game easier. I always enjoyed the old charge mechanic (if not only for the funny horn music) but because it allowed me to have full control of my Pikmin so they can avoid oncoming danger... not that it's super needed in this game. But having the charge be a single button press that rams into enemies like an instant kill button very much lowers any tension the combat may have had in this game. Also, I hate that using the New Charge mechanic only sends the required amount of Pikmin to carry an item and anything extra needs to be awkwardly thrown ahead of your Pikmin's pathway so the other Pikmin can catch up and.... yeah. Compared to 1 and 2's charge mechanic that shoved as many Pikmin onto an object so it was always getting transported at double speed with no hiccups.

Outside of the simplified combat, the rest of the game is phenomenal. Multitasking is the name of the game and having three playable captains makes everything so fun and has you wonder how you want to tackle the day. A day is never wasted. Oh, one captain doesn't have enough Blue Pikmin to carry an object? That's ok, I'll send that captain back to the ship while I play as another captain as they make their way back to the Onion. Everything about this game is just so fun to play, and the new Pikmin types, ESPECIALLY PINKS make multitasking and item hunting fun.

Rock Pikmin objectively have the best design tho.

And though this game's timer is an absolute joke with no threat of running out, there's still something so melancholic about going back to your ship and watching each captain wonder if they'll have enough food to get them by for the remainder of the expedition. Admittedly, the best part of the game IS when your food gets stolen and you start and you start at nothing again and have to scurry to get your supplies back... It seriously did add the level of tension that Pikmin 1 was very good at setting onto you.

I hear complaints that this game is short, and I do get why they're made, but honestly I like it this way given the premise of the story. It's short yes, but the adventure is a very well refined version of Pikmin 1. There's not as much danger or even a lot of tension here, but it's very fun and I think that's what matters most.

And that's just the base game alone, I have not even touched the side content at all! Play it if you want to get into the series but are too intimidated by the first two games! Pikmin 3 (and 4!) are all you need to understand this happy little franchise (:

I love this series but god do I hate the change of controls when it was transferred over. At least this game added Olimar and Louie tidbits to enjoy, and new missions to complete!! Even if it accidentally retconned part of the lore, just pretend you don't see it :)

the best pikmin and the best way to play pikmin 3

It's crazy that they would make the Side Missions the best part of the game.

This review contains spoilers

This was the first Pikmin game I played after Pikmin 4. Honestly, this would be scored lower if it weren't for the bonus missions with Olimar and Louie. They're a lot of fun and similar to the Dandori challenges in Pikmin 4. Plus, Louie is my favorite character, and I loved the interactions between him and Olimar.

I loved the characters in Pikmin 4, but didn't really connect with the Koppaites. It's really mostly because of how they treat Louie. When they rescue him, he wakes up on their ship and thinks he's been kidnapped, so he takes their food and runs away. Then, they capture him and tie him up.

Olimar's notes said somewhere that Louie needs to eat three times as much as a regular person, and they're only feeding him 1/4 of a jar of fruit juice every day. They could have brought back creatures for him to eat since he's the only one on board who will eat meat, but no. >:( I just felt so bad for him. Brittany especially got on my nerves. She made fun of Louie for being semi-verbal.

It also just...doesn't make sense that they eat so little of their food. They could really each be having a jar of fruit juice every day. I finished the game with enough to play through the whole thing again 3 or 4 times over without collecting any more fruit. They just need the seeds to save their planet, not all the juice.

...Anyway, the gameplay. It's a nice balance between challenging and relaxing, but I really think switching between three characters doesn't work. There are parts where it makes sense to split off into two teams, but the only places where you need three are specific puzzles. It's also annoying when you run into a puzzle that requires three people and you're not all together.

This is a fun entry in the series and the second most accessible to newcomers. but had I played this first and not Pikmin 4, it would not have made me fall in love with the franchise.

A good game, but the weakest in the series so far. Very short and holds your hand too much, when the credits started rolling it felt like I had finished the tutorial. But unlike with Pikmin 2, it wasn't like "the real game starts now", the game actually ended.

The extra content in the Switch version is nice.

Louie is a war criminal.

LET'S GOOOOO! THE FUNKY LITTLE GUYS RULE

I've only played in co-op, but makes me with every other game had the same capability. My wife got into it with me so it gets so many points for that. Really great follow up to the original game's formula. Need to get back to the DLC levels!

after playing through the game 3 times aswell as 100%ing everything, this is a true mastahpiece. i regret never fully playing through this when I bought the original game in 2015.

One of the most gorgeous games on switch. The gameplay has been improved massively from the gamecube titles. The bosses are big spectacle fights and a major highlight. The time limit is less overbearing compared to the original pikmin. The only issue I have with this game is that it is far too short. I was craving more after I beat the final boss because of the quality of each area and the fun I was having.

My favorite Pikmin game. It does away with the underground aspect of 2 (which 4 brought back), and I love the whole "swapping between three characters" thing and how you can set each character up to do different tasks. I also like how the time limit of the first game was brought back and made into a "soft" time limit that can be extended. Overall, the best Pikmin game for me personally, and I like it better than 4.

Lol I kinda just played in short bursts over like 2 years and one day I decided to really try and finish it and BAM "wait what that was the final boss." I think it's a pretty fun experience for my first pikmin but idk if I have the urge to dive into the others but maybe one day.

Adorable as hell, basically a better version of Pikmin 1. Sadly didn't traumatize me as much as 2 did so I think I like this one in between the two other games. Side content goes crazy though.

i had a lot of fun and the new game controls were good, but it felt a bit too easy, didn't it?

Pikmin 3 but awesome. Multiplayer is kino that lets you tag up with a buddy through the story. This allows better multitasking and just more fun to be had. The difficulties are alright, but just stick to hard mainly.

Uno de los juegos que más aprovechan el Wii U, suficientemente corto y largo para sacarlo al 100% siempre que lo juego, solo que los agregados y cambios del Switch no valen la pena.
