A fun space sim ultimately let down by a massive grind, at least as far as I could tell since I couldn't complete the second main quest due to the gigantic difficulty spike that requires you to grind for hours to even think you are capable of winning the fight. I got 6 hours out of the game before I got bored of the same repetitive missions trying to get a good enough ship to progress.

lame Xbox implementation of the game. They made a good-looking PC game and a crap-looking Xbox game.

Do yourself a favour, unless you are reading this in 2010, do not play this game.

I still haven't found a space combat game that I like. It's hard!!

Shelved, not completed. I do really like this game, and there's nothing else really like it on Switch at least. It's a classic space trading game, it's got a fair amount of depth, although is simple enough to pick up and play. I think, like a lot of these games though, you eventually start to feel like you're just doing the same things over and over.

This game is good and disappointing at same time. On paper, i gotta love this. Pretty much like Sid Meirer's Pirates! in space. This got a great variety of planets with unique sociologic backgrounds, good ship variety and upgrade system, Good quest templates to keep you busy.

Problems of this game is, Mining is so easy and so rewarding financially that you dont even need to do any risky jobs. Combat and actual gameplay is average. Jump system is neat but breaks the fluidity of gameplay and felt almost like a RPG random encounters. The main stoty missions are good but very bland. Also when you're playing the POV lights are so bright that it gives me headache.

I really wanted to like this cause i love Pirates! and i love Freelancer. On first glance this feels like a good modern adaptation but i keep forcing myself to play a game that isnt that much fun. It's a decent but not very special

Really felt like it lacked the charm of the first game. Just didn't click with me at all.

RGO suffers from some of the repetitive maladies that afflicted its predecessor, in addition to having a near-insurmountable early game. However, the game as a whole is an improvement, featuring several QoL improvements to the largely-identical gameplay loop. The story, too, is majorly superior; this time out, the characters feel less like generic templates designed to pad the setting and more actual people with stories to tell. There's also a Cowboy Bebop radio station.

Overall a better approach to the rather basic one that the first game took. Now you can move up and down and it feels like a proper space sim. The pay off in this one being that you can only fly smaller ships compared to the capital ships of the first game.

Can't really remember much of the story, it mainly delves into the life of a character from the original that only shows up towards the start. I remember thinking the story was pretty okay but as you know the main character is around by the time of the original game it does remove a lot of the stakes.

If you are a fan of space flight Sims in whatever form they may take then I do recommend this one.

It scratches a similar itch to Elite Dangerous but it’s much easier and less frustrating. If you want some nice spaceship fight action with missions, guilds, simple trading systems and ship upgrades, I can’t recommend this enough.

This series has such a cool concept, but has yet to nail the actual fun and longevity. Both games have so far been entertaining for a short while, and very fun and inviting with the theme and music, but quickly grew old. This is a refined and improved sequel that builds upon the original in more or less every way, but it all still just boils down to hopping between stations and engaging in rather dull dogfights inbetween easy and samey fetch quests. None of it's outright bad and I had fun with the game for upwards of 10 hours, but it was never very compelling and nothing ever really hooked me.

The soundtrack did, though! It's a banger on a level that I wish the game itself could reach. I'll be spending more time exploring the soundtrack, but I think I'm checking out of the game and will go back to hoping that third time's the charm and that they finally nail this formula with a potential third game, because I really would like to love these games.

just didn't connect with the game. it feels like its maybe the best one of these available on switch but for space flying and shooting games there other games I like more
