This is basically a "parenting fail" compilations

This game is a work of art, plain and simple. The atmosphere created is completely in symbiosis with the materials of its time. The vibrant and peculiar 3D of the PS1, its inability to render depth of field, the audio limitations that slow down the dialogues (it feels like being in a Rohmer film): remove one of these elements and the house of cards collapses. Remastering this title is impossible.

The game is TRULY frightening on many levels. To highlight just one element: the radio alarm. You always know there's an enemy nearby, but where? No jump scares: the game doesn't aim to scare us, but rather to terrorize us. I finished the game in 3 sessions and sometimes I was relieved to turn off the PlayStation because the atmosphere is so oppressive. My neck is still tense from this experience. Harry is never in a safe space; the player is always in danger.

The sound atmosphere and music, like any good horror film, are the scoliotic backbone of this hell. Between haunting drones and dark industrial sounds, the hearing is put to the test. Let it be known, I don't think I'll buy the vinyl to listen to it on a Sunday afternoon, unless I'm in need of an anxiety attack (aka never).

However, I must admit that I played it like a 'walking sim' by putting the game on 'easy' mode. The gameplay itself has aged relatively poorly, and the boss scenes are particularly bad. The interesting part lies in exploration and puzzle-solving. Its way of revealing the game's lore through objects and descriptions enhances immersion. I also have to admit that I am particularly a fan of the 'evolving' map system that prevents us from having to repeatedly open a locked door 15 times in a row. I look forward to playing the sequels

It's games like these that really make me wish I was smarter because what the HELL was going on here

amazing survival horror game and the start of an incredible franchise, highly recommend if you want to get into the survival horror scene

One of the best horror games i`ve ever played, i highly recommend people to play it on duckstation for better graphics quality and constant 60 fps.

its genuinely such a strong kickoff to the silent hill story, but listening to the voice acting was painful. everything else was fun and port was fine,.,,

Alright, I finished playing Silent hill 1 and I have to say this game is something else for a ps1 game. I did emulate this on DuckStation. You play as Harry Mason who is looking for his daughter Cheryl, and as you progress through the game you learn more about the town of silent hill and the cult following and how Cheryl is connected to all of it.
There are things you will have to get used to such as using tank controls and fixed camera angles, as well as the combat but you can run away or doge most monsters. There are different puzzle difficulties and I chose the normal difficulty. Figuring out the puzzles I did have trouble on and I did look them up when I was stuck in certain areas. This game does reward you as you explore with healing items and ammo for your weapons that you get. There are many endings in the game and I got the good ending but there is a good+ ending and a joke ending where you get abducted by aliens.

muito bonito e óbvio um classico

Very creepy for its time, but only good because it was first.

Aqui acabou.

First horror game I played. I was 13 and played it in secret to defy my parents. I just wanted to play something I absolutely wasn't allowed to play; it being Silent Hill was a coincidence. Every step I took in the "fog" of that town was hard-fought. I was scared shitless by the abrasive noise soundtrack and every time the Underworld manifested.

don’t want to talk about how i lost my progress like 3 times but anyways we made it through

muita arma melee pra usar me senti no dark souls

Surreal.

All the hype and praise this game gets is well deserved. This game's strong point is its atmosphere and environment. The fog, the layout and the sound design create probably the most immersive environment in any game. Exploring the town of Silent Hill is not only fun but also stressful. This game also shows how good use of fixed cameras is much scarier than just relying on jump scares. Aside from the amazing game design, the story and characters are interesting and likable. The only thing I disliked was the horrible voice-acting but the rest of the game more than makes up for that.

The game is amazing, but I am going to lose my mind if I see another person defend the atrocious voice acting as being intentionally bad and "Lynchian". This is just the result of hiring nobodies from the street to read poorly translated lines from Japanese while giving them no direction. It kind of works with the surreal nature of the but is mostly distracting and deflating.

emulated and sadly unplayable due to the controls. i like him better than james

The saving of the emulator didn't work
