"That one with the Star Wars characters".

All of the SoulCalibur games are wonderful, but this one is my favourite. Blew my mind back in 08' with its breathtaking visuals and hugely enjoyable character creation-suite.

soul calibur games are the greatest party fighting games of all time (I mean this trust)

It has Star Wars in it, which is neat, but at the same time the gameplay had started its slide downhill into mediocrity. At least the boobs were still getting bigger.

love it when i was a child, now i am an adult and i can relate with the darkness of darth vader

Amazing game but too hard for me.

The Soulcalibur games are on par with the Tekken series. They feature great combat mechanics, beautiful graphics and some fluent character animations.
Soulcalibur IV is the only game in the series that I ever played personally. With that said, I do not know much of the lore, the characters and their backgrounds and the mechanics of each character. Nevertheless, I thought this was a pretty epic game.

Unlike Tekken, Soulcalibur does not have that strong of a story. I do not know any story or lore from the previous games, but in this instalment, you apparently have to reach Algol in his special tower and them whoop the floor with him. Every character is connected to the same cause via “The Chain of Souls” but none of the characters do have any canon endings or story endings as far as I can tell. It does not matter that much, but being a Tekken veteran, it is just remarkable how different and basic the lore is in this game as far as I experienced it.

Soulcalibur IV looks amazing. I thought the graphics and detail were stunning. It is much, much better than Tekken or Mortal Kombat and the amount of detail in each character, their movement and expressions is unmatched in any fighting game. The framerate is smooth, and although I hate motion blur most of the times, in this game, it works and enhances the experience.

The orchestra music is glorious and really gives the feeling that every battle is an epic fight. The sound effects are solid and you can feel the hits land on your opponent.

Soulcalibur IV featured some crossover characters from other games and media. It was so weird, but epic at the same time, to see Yoda all of a sudden appearing in the arena. I also really liked the fact that I could choose Yoshimitsu, a character from Tekken that is all familiar to me. In this game, he looked even more badass.

This game is hard, really hard. It almost played like Dark Souls to me, but then in a Tournament Fighter. This is, of course, mainly because of my lack of experience with the series, but the mechanics, moves and combos just feel very unnatural to me and really hard to pull off.

In this game, items like swords, shields or other handhelds, are not just for decoration. A character with a shield can actually block your attacks with it, and upgrade their gear for a defense or attack bonus. In the offline versus and Tower modes, this is fine and actually makes the game easier for you, but since this game is the first in the series that offers online play, I can only imagine the unbalance that flows from it.

Then you got the Critical Finish system. You build up a gauge by fighting, and when full, you can unleash a massive powerful series of brutal attacks, always instantly finishing off your opponent. To top things off, you got some balance issues with the guest characters from the Star Wars movies. You face freaking Darth Vader, who chokes and slams you with his Force powers, and the lightsaber is a very overpowered weapon. Yoda on the other hand, is to small to hit and immune to grabbing attacks. Although almost every character uses some sort of weapon instead of their fists, Yoda and Darth Vader have an unfair advantage in my opinion.

Like I said, I am not a diehard fan of the series and not that familiar with the game. Nevertheless, the one game I played, namely Soulcalibur IV, was an epic experience and I enjoyed every minute of it.

Definitely recommend this awesome game.

Esta "bien"
No te encanta esa parte donde un sable de luz por alguna razón no parte una espada de acero?

This is the last Soulcalibur game to have Rock as a playable character, therefore it is the last good Soulcalibur game

I had an xbox 360 for some reason at one point and this was one of the few games I had for it

Fighting is cool bit removal of modes and weird choices regarding equipment? Makes it inferior to the previous 3.

Star Wars characters rock through

Vaguely remember an ex-friend introduced me to this game, and it led me down a rabbit hole of buying the second and third game (yeah I didn't get any sleep once I started playing Tale of Souls) anyway it lead me to be a very dickish Kilik main.

É bem bonzin mas... tem melhores dentro da franquia

my trans and bisexual awakening all in one this game did so much to my brain chemistry as a kid

The most 2008 game ever made

Yoda
Darth Vader
Starkiller
Death Star

loved this too when i was younger. I always played as Yoda and like no one else.

It's alright.
I went back just to play as Darth Vader, since I had only played the xbox360 version and I didn't have the dlc.

I like how the story progressed and it features some of the best designs of the franchise in Siegfried and Nightmare. It also has the most shameless designs lmao just look at Ivy. Every girl (except for Amy and Talim?) is sexualised.

If you are a casual you won't get much from this game as it doesn't have much content aside from story (which is just an arcade ladder with a cgi ending for each character) and the tower (which consists of fighting the cpu, just with some challenges and modifiers). This is nothing compared to the previous entries in the franchise.

Yoda is in it. Its fine. Game is fine. Its SoulCalibur. I enjoyed it for what it is. Got my first ever xbox live hatemail playing this so it'll always hold a place in my heart.
Play Nightmare, press Y over and over, win.

I met him in a swamp down in Dagobah
Where it bubbles all the time like a giant carbonated soda
S-O-D-A, soda
I saw the little runt sitting there on a log
I asked him his name and in a raspy voice he said, "Yoda"
Y-O-D-A, Yoda
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo-Yoda
Well, I've been around, but I ain't never seen
A guy who looks like a Muppet, but he's wrinkled and green
Oh, my Yoda
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo-Yoda
Well, I'm not dumb, but I can't understand
How he can lift me in the air just by raising his hand
Oh, my Yoda
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo-Yoda
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo-Yoda
Well I left home just a week before
And I've never, ever been a Jedi before
But Obi-Wan, he set me straight, of course
He said, "Go to Yoda and he'll show you the Force"
Well I'm not the kind that would argue with Ben
So it looks like I'm gonna start all over again
With my Yoda
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo-Yoda
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo-Yoda
Yoda
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo-Yoda
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo-Yoda
So, I used the Force
I picked up a box
I lifted some rocks
While I stood on my head
Well, I won't forget what Yoda said
He said, "Luke, stay away from the Darker Side
And if you start to go astray, let the Force be your guide"
Oh, my Yoda
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo-Yoda
"I know Darth Vader's really got you annoyed
But remember, if you kill him, then you'll be unemployed"
Oh, my Yoda
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo-Yoda
Well, I heard my friends really got in a mess
So I'm gonna have to leave Yoda, I guess
But I know that I'll be coming back someday
I'll be playing this part till I'm old and grey
The long-term contract I had to sign
Says I'll be making these movies till the end of time
With my Yoda
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo-Yoda
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo-Yoda
Yoda
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo-Yoda
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo-Yoda
Yoda
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo-Yoda
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo-Yoda
Yoda
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo-Yoda
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo-Yoda
Yoda
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo-Yoda
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo-Yoda
Yoda
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo-Yoda
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo-Yoda
Yoda
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo-Yoda
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo-Yoda

Literally the best SoulCalibur game because of Yoda

This is the point where I lost interest in the franchise. Maybe the newer entries brought back the series to their roots? This one had pretty much no replay value.

I would spam the darth vader force down move and wreck all my friends. miss this one.

I feel like my grandma can beat this games darth vader in a fight

SoulCalibur IV is a decent fighting game that does its job but lacks anything special that stands out against other fighting games, and even among other SoulCalibur titles. Unless you're a Star Wars fan, there really isn't a reason to play this over another SoulCalibur game.
