The single player mode of this game is evil and cruel. Demanding a level of precision is basically FromSoft's whole brand identity but expecting you to do this with two characters simultaneously, with one stick for each character, requires a level of savant-like focus and/or independent eye movement. Will revisit later when I can convince someone to run through it on co-op.
(This is part of a series of party game reviews for party games that I messed around with alongside a good friend in a weekend. I'm writing them with time inbetween each review to avoid flooding so I can still have friends after this.)
Now here's a pleasant surprise! If you've ever played the minigame Dungeon Duos from Mario Party 4, The Adventures of Cookie & Cream is basically that minigame but expanded into a full on multiplayer title with boss fights and collectibles. You play as these two bunnies (I think they're bunnies?) that got transported to this mysterious island and now have to escape while running through Donkey Kong Country crash courses like Crash Bandicoot filled with spikes, battering rams, pitfalls, crocodiles, and other assorted wildlife that's out for your ass. It's a pretty cold start in that there wasn't much explanation for my friend and I when we booted this up and started the course, but it's pretty easy to get the hang of the controls and there's plenty of leeway thanks to just how much extra time you can grab with the timer collectibles. There's a lot of room for skilled coop gameplay and trickier manuevers too, if you're willing to go the extra mile to scout out all the timer collectibles and puzzle pieces to improve your rank, and the boss fights utilize these mechanics in a slightly different but still quite intuitive manner. My friend and I blazed through the first world in a matter of minutes, and we'll definitely be picking this up to play again in some of the more exotic destinations like Music World when he's back in a few months.
Oh, and I don't recommend the brutally difficult single player mode, even if you like those other FromSoft spinoff games like "Dark Souls" and "Elden Ring." But then again, why would you ever want to play those when the true FromSoftware GOAT has been right here all along?

The Adventures of Cookie & Cream "4,5/10
The Adventures of Cookie & Cream não fede nem cheira.

An amazing co-op platformer with fun moments and puzzles that lead to a lot of laughs and pratfalls. Unfortunately, it's close to unplayable in single-player. They give you the option of splitting up each character's movement to a single control stick but it's not worth the hassle and expects way too much split-focus from the player.
