Pretty fun arcade-like WWF PS1 game

Let me make something crystal clear to you with your candy asses. This game would not have a perfect rating in 2023 but back in the day, this game was the GOAT. My #1 favorite wrestling game. The loading screens are what would make this game unplayable to me today. One last thing! You’re able to escape the cage match without winning. I’m not sure a lot of people know about this glitch. It’s one me and the bro actually discovered. Countless “seasons” played on this, would love to know how many hours played.

One thing that I definitely think we've lost over time is the ability for wrestling games to have the funniest story modes possible. Nowadays the single player modes in wrestling games are too clean, too tightened up. There's no way to play matches and have random created wrestlers of yours randomly appear and run in on your matches to beat you up, as if they are mad at you for being alive. Or the variety of body part nightmare hodgepodges that served as unlockables. Oh, to be a child again, wondering who Unknown G is, in his two biker jackets and flame hat.

This game actually got me to start caring about wrestling. It is a pioneer of genre-conventions and the atmosphere is so Y2K that you will get frosted tips by the end of it.

Is this the only WWF/WWE game with the Mean Street Posse as unlockable characters in it?

Roster update with minor improvements

A PlayStation classic, even to non wrestling fans - The game was just that much fun. Great presentation for PS1 standards, loads of content (big roster with plenty of unlockable superstars) plus loads of customizable options & one of the most iconic season modes ever. Gameplay was fast, arcady and fun. This set the standard for wrestling games moving forward. Still incredibly fun to this day.

This is still my favorite wrestling game. I remember creating characters for me and my friends, back in the day, then when I arrived at school I would tell my friends about their characters and fights. It's a very cool game. My favorite was The Undertaker, but most of the time I played with my own character.

not as good as the later entries but still really fun

The thing i loved about this game was playing 4 player, I was always The Rock obviously, while everyone else would fight over Stone Cold. The season was alright but I preferred Royal rumble and hell in a cell

Great wrestling game with one of the best Create-A-Wrestler modes for its time.

Not too many flaws with the exception of the long load times between certain game sequences that probably didn't need it.

Enjoyment: 3.5/4
Gameplay: 1.5/2
Replayability: 2/2
Graphics: 1/1
Sound: 1/1
Total: 9/10

Would have rated this higher if the season mode wasn't such a 10+ hrs bore and the god awful loading simulator. A typical event would be like this: Event Starts - select match - 10 sec load screen - story for 5 secs - another 10 sec load - watch a non-playable match (you can skip matches but have to watch a computer simulation of a fight for some reason) - now this goes on and on - finally you get to the match concerning your wrestler - loading - 5 sec story - loading - 2 min match - loading. Seriously, out of almost 12 hrs played, it felt like 50% time spent on loading screens. Even in the Royal Rumble, when a new wrestler enters, there is mid-move pause and LOADING. The PlayStation obviously couldn't handle these games well. The gameplay is fast and enjoyable but the season mode is unplayable. Stay away unless you only want to play exhibition with buddies.

Similar to the first one with minor improvements.
