Games live and die by their gameplay. Great games have varied gameplay, with different ways to solve problems and encounters which require you to change the way you play in order to progress. Dark souls bosses are a great example of this. A defense heavy shield based approach might be viable for some bosses, but not others. The game challenges you to change up the way you play by throwing new challenges at you. X-men the official example is not a great game, its not even a good one. Interesting though, it seems like the developers realised they were making a shitty game and decided to add some variety by sticking 3 games on the same disk, at least that's what it feels like. The game is split into 3 types of level: Wolverine levels, Blue guy levels and Ice Bloke levels. This actually sounds kind of appealing, adding some variety and mixing things up. But now, instead 1 boring and repetitive level type, you have 3. Seriously its all the same. Wolverine levels are hack and slash, smash x and kill everything. Blue guy levels are a bit of platforming then some scrapping, press R to jump and then x to kill everything. Ice Man levels are horrible flying levels that are akin to superman 64. It's a nice try Activision, but if you squish 3 turds together its still poop.

Whatever kinda game. Played kind of out of necessity because it's the third X-Men movie tie-in game, which is technically a sort of almost not really sequel to the X2 game I just played which is set in the same universe as the Spider-Man game I played as a kid ... so yeah.

It was okay. Better than X2, but not by much. I liked the variety in the set pieces, in particular I liked the Chinese garden type area, but other than that it was pretty bland. Lots of mechanical looking places you run through as one of three characters, boring, annoying, and Wolverine.

Bosses were decently fun but not as fun as in the other game. I'm gonna end up rating it less because at least in that one the things going on were a little more interesting.

Also, cutscenes were fucking awful. The powerpoint like transitions, awful animation, and awkward poses. Sometimes they put the real life actors faces onto the renders of the characters and it was so jarring. Not a good time.

Idk, kinda boring and I rushed through it.

The boss fight against Lady Deathstrike in the hanger with the tornado flinging stuff around is an approved torture method in several countries and provinces

weird game, but the visuals were top notch

Insanely repetitive and shallow but I have a lot of nostalgia attached to this game. I remember the "cutscenes", if you can call them that, being pretty cool for the time on the DS. Definitely does no hold up today.

A great X-Men game exists to still date. I liked playing as nightcrawler and ice man.

I'd rather die than continue this awful Wolverine button mashing, and powerpoint cutscenes.

The Iceman levels were cool as shit. Nightcrawler was hard. Wolverine was painfully boring and repetitive.
