the way you stray from the main story instead of facing the dragon only to actually wake up in what's really considered the final section of DD2 is incredible

Dragons Dogma 2 feels like the world I used to imagine while reading fantasy books as a kid. The cozy open world freedom combined with fantastic combat & an addictive loot/ upgrade system. Going off the deep end in post-game to divine other worldly levels alongside some superb dungeon crawling encounters. It's got a much nicer after taste than other superb but frontloaded RPGs. There’s something about the atmosphere of Dragons Dogma, the perfect darkness, the physical things, such as having to use a lantern after nightfall or getting hit with shock DMG if soaked in water, the wizards and warriors casting a skill for almost 30 seconds straight... it just feels very real & old school. Going on a quest at sundown, surviving a hard fought night, watching the sun come up as you reach the final destination. DD2 might have best magic system in any rpg , prolly the most visually appealing magic in video games, the melee combat is also great. Basically it's a setting I like and the combat seemed like a more appealing dark souls. One of my all time favorites, if not the favorite RPG. The pawn system as a party shtick that I love in stuff like Goblin slayer and berserk & other peak fantasy media. Long hands give + attack range with swords, heavy characters are knocked around less & can pin down enemies (large/small), small characters consume less stamina when climbing enemies, long legs gives +movement speed, etc. so peak. Rant over. Play Dragonsdogma

I'm sure whatever these nameless npcs are doing is totally worth tanking the framerate but right now it runs like cheeks

Stuck with this slack-jawed pawn with bug eyes. There's literal stink lines trailing off of him and he keeps rubbing blood from his diseased gums on the dungeon walls.

For some reason the game runs at 20fps when he's around, please advise.

ludwig göransson was right

Things Capcom absolutely must do to make this game 10x better:

Fix NPC CPU overload by introducing better LOD techniques/ reducing overworld NPC geometrical complexity. Introduce two Uncapped/Capped 30fps game modes for console.

Remove ALL MTX as possible. I know it's easy to get this currency in-game, but MTX in a single-player $70 single-player RPG is unacceptable.

Allow us to create multiple characters. It's an RPG... gaming's most replayable genre ever. Even if the number of characters is tied to the pawns you send out to other players in the world, just make alts offline. Simple as that.

If they do all of that, then we have one of the most special RPGs of this console generation. If not, then we have a lost cause on our hands.

Anti consumer and anti hardware game. Such a lame.

More like Dragon's Dogshit 2
The PC version is unplayable. The story seems interesting, but all of this is being ruined because of the game's low quality.
It's sad seeing a high profile release like this in such a terrible state. With such a big price, you would've expected a much better quality of gameplay.
Another shit port from Capcom with Denuvo, bad optimisation and micro transactions 👍👍
P.S. I didn't buy this game and probably wont ( I wont support these greedy fuckers)
Review based on watching other streamers play.

Can gamers at least try to be consistent when trashing games for having MTX, it feels like such random games always catch heat for it when there's much bigger offenders even among Capcom's own library (Monster Hunter World & Rise lmao)

I can at least understand people being upset over optimization (even if in my experience I've had little to no issue in the 5 hours I've played so far), but obviously the issue differs from person to person.

Game is fun tho, I'm having a blast, this really is just an improved version of the original Dragon's Dogma and I'm all for it.

Went into a cave that seemed to go on forever, in the pitch black feeling my way around. While trying not to aggro saurians I went in a room that opened up in a suspicious way, so I stuck to the edge wall to go around just in case. My pawn, however, didn't get the memo: at some point a saurian had caught sight of someone in my party so they were in full attack mode, running straight into the middle of the room. about 5 seconds later I see a huge blue light silhouetting a goats head and a massive health bar appears. I have never run out of a room so fast.

70€ single player game + denuvo + mtx + atrocious perfomance + crashes

I've waited 12 years for this. I'm tired, boss. I'm tired of people defending all this shit.

Also, if you don't see how these mtx and the performance issues are two facets of the same issues, you're hopeless. They are both born of the same greed. They cut corners in optimisation and testing, resulting in the crap performance issues, due to the same greed that makes them milk idiots for mtx.

oh no mtx
re4r and dmc5 with mtx: ...

oh no bad performance: ... thats correct, capcom make the game run like shit, i admit, but is funny see grown man outraged because your frames run below 30 fps

in moment i am 20 hour in game, and its great game, fix the performance and its become a more great game

Edit: finished the game, is about the jorney

It’s Cyberpunk 2077 all over again. Literally re-traumatized me.

Almost 10 hours playing so far. Don't listen to the fools who are giving this game a bad rating! Here are the straight facts from someone who actually knows about computers and a long time gamer:

1. This game relies on CPU more than your usual game. That is why many PC players who have beefy GPUs still have bad performance. Bad performance is mainly in cities, which are CPU intensive.

2. I have both a near top of the line CPU and GPU and the game still has some performance issues but like I said it's mainly in large cities. Peformance fixes are definitely needed but overall the game is not as bad as people say!
I easily get 90-110 fps outside cities, all max settings and 4k resolution, on a 4080 and Ryzen 9 7900X.

3. Yes, there are microtransactions BUT they aren't pay2win. Half of them are cosmetic, the other are extra crystals to rent high level pawns. It's a single player game, who cares! If someone wants to waste money on getting Power Leveled by pawns, it doesn't matter on single player games!

4. 10 hours in and I've had ZERO crashes even with a few mods enabled. Reported crashes are a small vocal minority (happens with any game on release nowadays sadly) and not the norm for most DD2 players. Update your drivers and Windows!

The game is better than the first Dragon's Dogma, and the pawns are much better; less talking, more "real", more of a bro than a mindless parrot. This game is what Skyrim really should have been.

OpenCritic has this game at an 89/100 average. If the supposed issues were as bad as people say, it wouldn't be getting high praise!

I have blind faith that it's going to be peak

when im in a worst dlc competition and Dragon's Dogma 2: Portcrystal - Warp Location Marker walks in

Thankful to microtransactions for diverting attention from all other things micro

ngl don't have in on ps5 cause of the warnings the game told us in advance but got it on pc and been runnin it at 60 fps maybe 40 when fighting something that chugs the engine but my computer isn't exactly the newest or strongest and it still runs it like it would elden ring or any other big AAA game. Micro transactions for a capcom game are exactly the same. Still love Devil may cry and Resident Evil even though you can practically skip any challenge with some cash and same buisness practice will be used here. If you're on the fence buy it and after 1 or 2 hours of playing make your own choice don't listen to others. (edit: it is bs that you can't start a new game or even change the race of your character but they talked about an incoming patch to fix it so i'm not bothered)

Capcom’s renaissance was going so well and I thought they were well on their way to coming back to their former glory.

Than this game’s launch turned out the way it did, with god awful performance and microtransactions

high end space pc's crawling around at 30-40 fps (crashing every 5 minutes as well), microtransactions that literally play the game for you (but they did it in dmc5 and re4 too!, just check out mhw's DLC page man!) and not let you change your appearance without paying (but you can grind for the credits that lets you change it!), or hell, locking you into a single save file (that won't even let you delete it) is completely okay when a Japanese video company like CAPCOM Co. Ltd. does it, people who hopelessly "negative review" this game are barely wishful thinking since 200,000 concurrent players on steam alone already said "yes" to this practice, i can only hope mh wilds don't get plagued by this, but i know it will

fuck

I don't normally write reviews for games I'm not interested in, but briefly watching Cr1TiKaL's stream of the game and witnessing it crash when he had to do a brb says more than enough, this is da future of gaming and you will kneel, give us your money while we shove our hecking wholesome VTubers and content creators in your face

do not buy japanese games on the computer.

DRAGON’S DOGMA II TASTES SO GOOD WHEN U AIN’T GOT A BITCH IN YA EAR TELLING YOU ABOUT THE MTX THAT CAN BE EARNED NORMALLY IN GAME

The game automatically drowns your first slave so you don't have to like you had to in the first game. Big improvement. Faces are really ugly but based on the accents I think it's intentional.

Thats that game of the year u were all talking about so much 🤣🤣

horrible performance, crashes, microtransactions and capcom did not even pay the content creators they used as pawns

Everyone is talking about performance this, monetization that, I'm over here wondering how Capcom managed to fool millions into buying a AAA MDickie game.

Jogo perfeito, uma pena q ta mt mal otimizado e a 30fps
