Michel and Giselle have the best romantic relationship dynamic I ever seen across in any medium!!

Some of the strongest plotting I've seen, three of my favourite characters ever and much much more, needless to say I love The House in Fata Morgana. It started off pretty weak for me but the later parts were just so, so good. It kept getting better and peaked at the end, truly, as it's climax is my favourite moment of all time. Despite all this, my favourite aspect is not any of the above but the strong thematic core of the story which resonated with me deeply and is the reason it's probably my favourite story ever.

This what is known as Peak Fiction. A book goes along well, for sure; however, a novel with soundtracks and vibrant art is a whole another league. I suppose that only establishes how great and enticing a visual novel can get. The likes of VNs such as Umineko and The House in Fata Morgana are a few fine examples.

Would definitely experience the amnesia all over again.

Absolutely one of the best stories in gaming period. Every character (except Javi...) is fleshed out and all of them feel very human. The main romance in fatamoru is top tier too. Music is phenomenal, Cicio and Everybody's Crying are my favorites. I'm not a very emotional person but this VN was one of the few pieces of fiction that moved me to tears. Door 1 can be a bit of a slog but its one of those stories that get exponentially better the further you get

Characters and story (10/10)

The House in Fata Morgana is genuinely one of the most human and touching stories I have ever encountered. It is equally a tragic tale as it is a beautiful one, it showcases the both the beauty and the ugly when it comes to what it means to truly connect with other people, it’s a beautiful tale on ones identity, it is a beautiful tale on the human condition. The characters within Fata Morgana are all beautifully made, it’s hard to say that all of them don’t motivate to become a better person and make a change in my life, despite it being only fiction the characters do feel like real people past the first 4 doors. It is hard to describe in words that truly does this story the justice it deserves.

Music and Art (10/10)

The music and art of The House in Fata Morgana is every as beautiful as the story is as well, it’s an experience that you can’t really have besides the visual novel genre as the music would be the primary thing you first feel and notice as there aren’t any voice acting to really distract you and in particular parts no art at all. Finna get my first physical copy of an album and it's thanks to Fata Morgana, the music is too beautiful.

Cons

Some cons I could say goes for this game is that the first 4 doors/chapters can be pretty slow paced and can be considered boring for some people though I still enjoyed the first four doors a great deal, even if it does suffer from some slow pacing since it’s a visual novel you are free to select the pace you wanna go at so that slightly alleviates the slow pacing issue in the beginning. The first 4 doors are incredibly important however the quality of writing exponentially increases past that point peaking in the finale.

Tldr: it’s an incredible game with some of the best writing I have ever seen, as with all pieces of media don’t get too overhyped, play through it without any expectations.

I'm dying, I'm dead. Peak Fiction fucking killed me

visual novel for people who enjoy being sad, a rich set of stories with amazing characters, relationships, and atmosphere

The greatest work in fiction, fata morgana makes a deep exploration about one's search of identity and sense of belonging, the importance of mutual communication and understanding, how the environment around us shapes and builds our being and how even small fleeting moments of human connection and warmth creates a lasting effect on the people around it even after decades

Those themes are perfectly portrayed through its amazing cast with each character bringing in a new world view and contrasting perspective about those themes, their development being build up in the shape of past memories gives in an opening to a heavy mystery and the search for the answer of what's the curse afflicting the mansion.

The phenomenal OST only helps to shape and build the atmosphere of the cursed mansion, while subtly telling a story of their own.

The masterfully build mystery allows it to give a multifaceted view on the story, with various events being changed multiple times as the story progresses with each passing moment making the previous scene even more complex and deep

Overall a perfectly written story with a deeply connected plot with extremely well written characters that tackles some of the most sincere and beautiful themes in fiction with a well handled work around more uncomfortable topics

A masterpiece that uses the medium to its absolute best ends. The illustrations and soundtrack bolster the atmosphere of what would already be a very good novel about love, forgiveness, and the weight of human history. It rules.

Very good VN. Short and very well-paced. Fata Morgana handles its themes of empathy and acceptance in a mature manner and I quite enjoyed it. The writing is super solid and maintains a decent balance of casual dialogue and flowery narration. The first portion of the story with the doors isn't too engaging; the twists are surprising to various extents and they do a good job building up the basis for the main plot and conflict but the tragic endings can get a tad tiring and predictable. The latter part of the story focused on finding the truth behind everyone's motivations and saving Morgana, as well as the relationship between Michel and Giselle is great and enthralling. The ending ties up everything perfectly and I really liked how everyone wasn't just forgiven, but pardoned with mixed emotions. The main characters all end up feeling realistic and sympathetic regardless of the magnitude of their crimes. I also felt the VN treated its setting respectfully and didn't shy away from problems of that era in fear of offending people. The music is good and fits in most cases, but at times the vocals can be so loud that they distracted me from the reading. The art is great for the most part aside from Mell's freakishly small arm in the first chapter and I liked the character designs as well.

An absolutely beautiful story, I am so thankful I got to experience this. This, this us what art and fiction and storytelling are supposed to be about and achieve, to make us better people. Thank you creators if this

ok, genuine review this time.
the summary is extremely high highs and extremely and more frequently low lows.
the biggest issue is the awful quality of most scenes, I wish I can just say it was whatever but no it was just Bad and to add insult to injury awfully repetitive and drags on for way too long (the best example of this is door2)
but enough with negativity (there is a lot of it) the positive parts (not enough of it) were great and easily one of the best I've seen, but like I said there isnt enough of it, and unfortunately it does not justify the rest for me.

most of the characters are just bad (like most of the game shocking! except for a few who are really great.
my feelings throughout the game is either "kill me now!!!" or "kino!!!".
the first door was just boring and literally nothing interesting happen in it until the final stretch where it was just cool horror. Mell was just... painfully uninteresting protagonist going through an extremely boring romance, white-haired girl was the same as mell, and nellie was actually alright loved her villainous role in it.
door2... BAAAD pure and simple, interesting premise AWFUL execution and pacing like holy fuck how do you get a cool premise like bestia and fuck it up??? and god dont let me get on how repetitive every fucking character was!!! bestia, WHG, pauline and javi say the same exact thing a billion times throughout it!! and literally nothing else. I genuinely don't know how people like this.
door 3 is really fucking good!! I loved every character in it especially Jacopo like god damn how did the same guy write this?? and maria was an amazing supporting character and WHG was actually good this time!! this door humanizes Italians very well, but sadly all good things must come to an end and door 4 was meh! I kinda liked Michel but WHG went back to being bad. however, I liked the twist that happened right after!
not gonna mention the next doors because spoilerinos!
but I have a more positive feeling about them.
in conclusion, overhyped and boring! there's some good but 10 times the bad.

a lot of the comments here really push me in the direction that fata morgana is the " visual novel for people who don't like visual novels " and lord help me should i ever choose to finish this, that i do not become an annoying person !!!!
