i m feelin a spongy 4/10 see what I did there (kill me plz)

Is it just me that had no idea this game came out? As a big Spongebob fan I heard nothing about this game until I stumbled on it in the game store. Shit advertising campaigns aside, the game is decent. Nowhere near the level of BFBB but they manage to refine the jokes in this one and most feel straight out of the show. Once again the lack of co op play disturbs me. The levels themself feel a bit too long at times and some quests are clearly there to pad out time, but the story is decent as are the jokes so I can excuse it somewhat.

At first I wasn't vibing with the game. I got a little bored. But I think the longer it went the more fun the game was. I liked all the outfits and karate kicking everything was fun. The game is a little repetitive and nothing truly special, but to be a licensed kid's game I think they did a pretty good job here.

Good licensed kids game and nothing else

Fun game actually. Never grew up with BFBB, but this is a really decent platformer!

Finally done with THQ's next Spongebob game after the remake of Battle for Bikini Bottom and I gotta say, I am impressed with what they did for the game. It improved graphically so damn well. Voice acting is good. Love the costumes that appeared from past episodes. The animations for cutscenes are so good. World designs look so amazing. Platforming is also good and even improved. They also improved the combat. Enemies are better. Soundtrack is great. Love how they put songs from the show in the credits. Especially Sweet Victory. Bosses are also great. Except for one problem.

Kassandra, who is the main villain of this game has such a braindead easy bossfight. I wish that they would've made it just as good as the final boss fight of Battle for Bikini Bottom.

Overall, a very nice Spongebob game from THQ. One where you'll enjoy it if you are a huge Spongebob fan and love Battle for Bikini Bottom. Hopefully THQ does more Nickelodeon games. But if not I am happy to play whatever games they have.

I liked this better than BFBBR. Not by much. The collectables are a little less annoying to get. I like the costumes and the levels are better.

7/10 Better than the first but not worth $40

I knew what I was in for, but man was I excited to play this game. I've always been a SpongeBob guy. I spent the entirety of my childhood roaming SpongeBob forums and communities. I know everything there is to possibly know about this franchise, so I feel like I'm pretty qualified to play this children's game.

It's a solid platformer, but despite the backdrop, it really doesn't feel like I'm in the world of SpongeBob. And when that's taken away from it, there's nothing that separates in from your average mobile-tier 3d platformer.

It's not bad, and there's definitely love there, but honest to God it feels like a reskinned game with SpongeBob and Bikini Bottom models. But it is pretty boring at times. It's extremely linear. Beat up five new enemies. Kick down the wall. Beat up five enemies.

Going into this, I was definitely not expecting anything above a 7/10, but it is kind of disappointing regardless.

Wenn du dich nicht vor Lachen einscheißt, wenn du ein Hauch von Tüll, oder Seebären und vergleichbares siehst, ja, dann wird das wohl doch schnell langweilig.

Solid lil game. Not as good as the Movie Game for me [Ive never played battle for bikini bottom]
W credits song.

My literally only problem with this game is the fact that the glider fucking blows and they use it so often lol

If you enjoyed Battle for Bikini Bottom and simply want more of the same, then this games perfect for you. This game doesn't really innovate much on it's predecessor. Lacked polish in some areas. If you weren't too keen on the first game then skip this one.

got the plat for this and it genuinly improved my experience with the game. better than BFBB for sure and a worthwhile game to get when its on sale. just classic 3d platforming fun

While the premise of multiverses has recently become more common in mainstream pop culture, I find that it offers a lot of fun opportunities for storytelling and aesthetic variety.
And this game nails that latter aspect, as the levels you get to explore are so varied and visually interesting and pleasing that I think it provides an excellent backdrop for this game.
The gameplay is very much a PS2 esc platformer, which is not a bad thing, but with the added polish and honing in on having SpongeBob be the only character you play as, I’m willing to say this game is better than Battle for Bikini Bottom.
It just nails what it’s going for, and while the writing isn’t crème of the crop, the characters are entertaining and well executed overall and you really get sense that this game was a labor of love.

At the start I was kinda like meh. Towards the middle I was like yoooooo. Then the end I was like hmmm yoooo. The game is GOOD for what it is. The karate kick changes everything and is the best thing in the game. The cutscenes got kind of grating to me but the banter between Spongebob and Patrick in the levels was cute. Fun game. Platnuim was OK....

I got this for free with the monthly PS5 games list, which is cool

clapped when glovey said cosmic shake

This review contains spoilers

Cosmic Shake is an incredible and worthy successor to the SpongeBob 3D platformers of the 2000s (BfBB, Movie game, CFTKK, etc.) It takes the best aspects of each of those original titles and really tries to deliver the greatest SpongeBob experience it can. I don't think the level design is quite as good as Battle for Bikini Bottom, focusing more on a linear path than sandbox worlds, but it's a VERY close second. The writing is some of the best in the entire SpongeBob franchise, very much on par with the classic seasons and first two movies but with the new styles and characters of the modern seasons.

Probably my biggest negative is that repeat playthroughs aren't quite as magical because once you remove the writing and dialogue from the experience, the less interesting level design can stand out a lot. This is made worse by every level theme, except one, being a re-used setting from BfBB. It's also a bit lame that the game's collectibles and sidequests ultimately only reward you with (albeit amazing) costumes that reference the most iconic episodes from the show.

Overall, it was a great game with small issues that are easy to look past, and I will definitely be replaying it every now and again alongside Rehydrated. One small final note, it's realistically probably closer to a 3/3.5, but if you have an attachment to those original platformers, it really lives up to what you've missed.

اللعبة حلوه جدا وفيها الوان كثيره تستمتع وانت تلعبها

the security breach problem where a studio "proves" themselves by remaking a good game, just to horribly fumble the bag once they get the chance to make their own thing

really nice step forward from bfbb rehydrated, still rushed unfortunately but the different themed areas are great

I desperately want to like this game a lot more than I do. The presentation is good and it overall feels pretty good to play. And I love that it exists at all, I'm begging for more licensed games. But it just feels like it's on autopilot. Collectathon elements are hugely downplayed here in favor of focusing on incredibly average platforming, and I really think that does this game no favors. BFBB was good because it leaned on its strengths most of the time, this instead hones in on every weakness more often than not. Levels are long and really straightforward so going back to 100% them is a chore. The writing is ok as far as modern spongebob goes, (Frankly better than BFBB's writing by a longshot, and they actually got Tom Clancy for Mr. Krabbs for once) And there was a few fun boss fights and highlights here and there. But big picture a lot of it is a lot more dull than it should be.

BFBB isn't beloved for its platforming prowess and variety of combat encounters, the refusal to just make a BK styled game in the modern era is just an act of self sabotage and I don't get it. It's serviceable and not entirely miserable if you're in the mood for something mindless and you're a fan of the series. But it doesn't go hard. They really got the iconic Band Geeks song "Sweet Victory" to drum up hype in the trailer, and then proceed to NOT play it until the credits. Bro play it during the final boss, where's the vision? It's not hard to go hard dude why do modern games not understand this? Play sweet victory during the final boss and the score goes up, it's that heckin easy, you have the song. Why everything gotta be so limp bro just go hard why is everything so afraid to go hard now? Losing my mind, it's so close just be heckin cool man what's this era's fascination with surface level callbacks combined with a strict wall saying we're not allowed to do anything with said callbacks?

Also this industry really do be so starved for ideas we've ended up with dodge rolls in heckin' Spongebob combat come on dude.

I guess I'll spoiler warning just 'cuz I mentioned it plays sweet victory even tho they used it in the trailer. But did they REALLY use it?

Strong back half, but doesn't really start with its best foot forward. It does introduces a traversal mechanics pretty late, i.e. the very last level. I get they want you to go back to each level, but "replay everything but this time with a couple extra goodies to pick up" is not compelling game design. Solid platformer, funny enough script, and good use of the IP. Battle for Bikini Bottom is still the stronger entry, though.

The best spongebob game that I have played by a mile - take the foundation of Battle for Bikini Bottom and put a multiverse and new ideas for a more linear yet expanded and refined platforming experience. I just had a ton of fun and coming from someone who doesn't have a lot of nostalgia, I genuinely think this is well worth playing.
