Exact same game as Shield

I know this one is not particularly a fan favorite but still, storywise, it really got me hooked up, and I do like the city design and the championshiplike pokémon league, even though the battles are all easy. The new pokémon are definitely not the best, but still, there are some good ones.
Team: Inteleon, Grimmsnarl, Flapple, Sandaconda, Centiskorch, Corviknight

perhaps overhated. very cheap and disappointing but thats not unusual for this series honestly
for all the complaints about that one tree, this is unambiguously the prettiest game in the series outside of the wild area.
the setting is great and the gym challenge aspect is so cool. such an aesthetic win. they should've just gone all-in on that stuff rather than shoehorn in the literal worst villainous plot in the entire series (a series mind you known for having lame stories)

While Sun/Moon marked my fatigue with the franchise I think it's this game where it felt sort of justified; I hadn't even purchased this game on launch. With some of the worst Pokemon designs, a completely forgettable story, a laughable post-game, one of the worst gimmicks in Dynamax and overall being easier than ever, this is one of the most souless and empty Pokemon games to date. And it's with this generation I think that marked Pokemon as a laughingstock amongst games, especially compared to the quality library of it's fellow first-party Nintendo games.
That being said it does have some merits, if not being vastly outweighed by the negatives still. Gyms finally have a context to exist, as in-universe the Gym challenge is the central focus of the region's culture, as opposed to games prior where it's just sort of a thing you do because that's just what Pokemon was. The addition of DLC, doing away with the 3rd version rereleases the series has always done prior. However by the point of said DLC campaigns releasing I had stopped playing the game so I cannot accurately speak to the quality of them respectively.

This is the most ehhhh game I’ve ever played.
I really like Galar as a region and the lore of it and this has some of the best characters and character development in the whole series, however it also has Rose who might be one of the worst villains yet and the story itself is kinda dead, tou just do the gyms with all the story happening right at the end
The routes in rbis game are so lifeless and boring it hurts, and the wild area doesn’t hit like I want it to but it’s still fun discovering random Pokémon hanging around. Overall its still Pokemon so I don’t think I’d say it’s bad, but it had a lot of missed potential with the fun characters and good lore and story on paper being bogged down by uninteresting route design and a shitty execution of the story.
I do have to say though, I love how the gyms feel so important in this game, especially the champion fight, it had such an exciting big fight feel.

This feels very much like a redo of sun/moon structurally, and it both improves and worsens what those games did. Wild area is much more fun to explore than any of the Alola routes, despite the big stink made before release this game looks fantastic when it wants to, and the changes to the gym challenge make it much more exciting than the trials Alola had. However, the biggest failing in comparison to gen 7 is the story, where I simply could not bring myself to care about what happened here past a certain point. Overall I would say I preferred this to moon but it's very close.
