Review for my 3rd replay. This game has unmatched vibes. Yharnam is one of the coolest settings for a video game, and I wish any other souls game reached this level. There's so many fun boss fights here as well, a true masterpiece. I could dock points for certain bosses(fuck the One Reborn) or the weird difficulty curve(imo the first zone of the game is by far the most difficult) but it just isn't worth it because this game is such a unique and fun experience.
Too many frames for my liking and i keep getting ganked by hackers with invincibility and +999999% bolt dmg gems on their saw spear. Terrible game design and balancing, also i couldnt find any door leading onwards after vicar amelia so i assume that was the final boss, very short game and very overrated

I intended to review the Fromsoft games in the order i played them but i have to talk about Bloodborne at the top because its the platonic ideal of what they offer.
Bloodborne is a masterpiece.
I dont quite know which angle to tackle first, so i'll start with what i find coolest- i fucking love how it subverts the tried and true formula that fromsoft had refined from Demons Souls to now. Dark Souls 3 would return to their bread and butter after bloodborne, and its entirely right and correct for that franchise, but Bloodborne does so many things right and none of that would be possible if the hunter was shackled to a slow and methodical playstyle hiding behind a shield. The genius here is the rally system, and reinforced within the lore of the game- youre hunting beasts, and theyre instinctive and primal and are trying to eat you.
The goal is to kill them before they kill you, it is not to survive them.
The gaslit streets of Yharnam are gorgeous, the slow creep towards Weird Horror and cosmic nightmares is delicately realized, and the fashion souls has never fashion souled quite as hard before or since.
The Old Hunters is in contention for one of the best DLCs ever made. Lady Maria is iconic, and they dragged her back out for Elden Ring (although reskinned as Malenia).
I think Father Gascoigne is one of the best bosses ever designed, a door boss that feels like "okay, this is bloodborne, and when i'm able to go bar for bar with this animal, i'm truly ready for the world to open up to me."
Every industry show I still, naively, get excited for Bloodborne 2.

"Ludwig, the Holy Blade. Have you heard how curiously the sea churns? Like a storm, but like the rain, only gentle. Like dripping water. It bellows from deep inside of me... Here it comes, up through my insides, but gently, like little droplets." - Ludwig, the Accursed/The Holy Blade
A game where death is as common as breathing, and frustration is just part of the fun. From dodging giant axes to getting swarmed by angry mobs, every moment is a test of patience and perseverance. But let's talk about that one Achievement – 'Yharnam Sunrise.' You know, the one that had me banging my head against the wall for hours, trying to beat the final boss without breaking my controller in half. But hey, if you're into masochism and dark, twisted humor, this game's got you covered. Just remember to stock up on blood vials and maybe invest in a stress ball or two."

Bloodborne is already a modern cult classic, it had amazing combat for its age, probably the best soundtrack from its saga and a charming victorian & lovecraftian art and setup.
It's one of those games you'll never forget and probably my favourite game from FS.
The only cons are that there weren't many builds or possibilities compared to other games from the franchise and that some bosses felt a little too easy or uninspired, some other were GREAT though.
Anyways, I love everything about this game lol!

Dang near perfect game with only minor flaws. Flaws being the base game doesn't have the strongest boss offering overall when comparing to Ds3 and I wish there were more outfits, but overall it still has some of my favorite fromsoftware bosses and outfits so I still can't really complain. If you haven't played Bloodborne yet then definitely check it out if you have a ps4 or 5 of course.
