I am writing this review while literall being in a discord call with friends that are playing LOL.
Being a big game in my friends group, I was asked multiple times to give a shot to League, and after I tried multiple games and unlocked the characters that I found more interesting..... yeah I don't think this is a game for me.
Don't get me wrong, I respect a lot of aspect of the world that builds, the lore is interesting, the characters are for the most part really cool, and the fac that it is able to not only be relevant to this day but also spawn incredible spinoffs and even acclaimed TV series is really impressive.
But actually playing the game....... yeah it's not really enjoyable for me. Already I am not really into MOBAs, but to this we gotta add the feeling that matches can be a slugfest to go through, maybe for the lack of mutiple maps online or even the fact that most of the time, the winning condition can be assured in the first 5 minutes of a match, with low chances of comebacks.
The roster mechanically can feel really unbalanced too: while I imagine it is hard to balance over 100 warriors, it feels like most Champions are just better versions of other characters, or just straight up game breaking in terms of balanced powers and abilities.
The shop system and the item customizations on paper is a solid idea to add variety... but then you find out that some items are always a necessity and the urge for optimal builds overshadows the possibility to do something else.
Another huge flaw is in all honesty not the game's own fault, but still doesn't really make the title enjoyable for me:
THE ONLINE COMMUNITY IS SO TOXIC. Like, I lost count of how many times I got offended and "threatened" just because I pick a random character, ESPECIALLY by your teammates. I know you can technically turn the chat down but still, man I never felt so in tension with a multyplayer experience.
It is a belove dtitle for many reasons, but for my personal take, League of Legends is not really the best experience around. But it is free technically, so give it a shot if you want!

First of all, a match being almost an hour for a first-time player is devastating.
I literally played 3 matchs on 3 different nights with my friends back in 2020 and every time I felt hopeless and depressed. I'm not kidding. I saw and still see them playing for weeks on end, then taking a break and THEN THEY RETURN TO THE GRIND AND THEY'RE ALWAYS MAD! Honestly, I hope this game's servers implode or something.

O jogo é bom, a comunidade é horrível, uma pena que a Riot não se mexe para medidas onde trolls ou criminosos sejam de fatos punidos...12 anos disso aqui e posso elogiar a forma como mecânicamente o jogo melhorou muito (RIOT devolve os modos legais pf)
Não dá pra negar que o jogo é extremamente bem feito dada a dificuldade que é mantê-lo em alta por mais de 10 anos. Dito isso, não deixa de ser frustrante jogar essa porra, ou eu abro o jogo e saio normal, ou saio com vontade de cometer um crime hediondo.

Não tem necessidade de jogar esse jogo, se não jogar não vai perder nada. Perdi um ano da vida jogando isso, igual droga, cassino e todo tipo de merda, e nem se quer é bonito e muito menos tem uma gameplay gostosa
I pray never to play this game again. It was alright, and I had fun playing with bots I guess, but competitive games aren't really for me
o jogo é bom e a Riot sabe muito bem como manter ele. Porém, acredito que a Riot não investe tanto quanto deveria em tornar o jogo mais amigável para quem está iniciando. É frustrante e por experiências de uns amigos, percebo que em todas as partidas de nível baixo um novo jogador vai encontrar um smurf que vai acabar com a diversão do jogo, seja carregando ou destruindo 5 outras pessoas que estão começando a jogar. Mesmo que o Dota 2, por exemplo, não tenha mais destaque como tinha uns anos atrás, existe uma série de tutoriais e pessoas dispostas a ajudar um novo jogador a ingressar no Dota 2. Essa é minha maior crítica para o LoL como jogo, que me parece se manter apenas com os jogadores que já jogam a muito tempo: quem não gosta de lol vai continuar não gostando.
O jogo em si é bom e bem feito e é muito óbvio que muita gente que trabalha nele tem muito amor pelo que faz. Bugs e bugs acontecem aqui e ali, mas mesmo assim a comunidade ainda é gigantesca e por um motivo.

In all my years of playing this shit on and off since 2012, I'm sure at LEAST 98% have been with other people. The remaining 2% was mostly when I was between the ages of 13-17 and my brain was rotten.
With friends the game is just background noise really, it's just something you play while talking with them because it's just what you do and it suffices. And it's been like that over 12 years for me with multiple friend groups.
The minds of the people sitting there and playing this game by themselves, whether it's a casual or competitive thing, must suffer from addiction of some kind. It's the gaming equivalent of people just watching the same shows on repeat and never anything else. Except instead of watching something like The Office they are watching paint dry.
The fact that League has an active player-base of millions upon millions of people is an actual travesty when I know most of these fuckers haven't played some of the absolute classics.
And if you genuinely like this game for whatever reason, I feel sorry for you <3
