I played this after finishing MGS1 and 3. I kept my expectations low, hearing stories on how "controversial" this game was to fans. However, I absolutely loved it. The story is top notch. All the characters are well written, and the gameplay compliments the environments. The bosses, while being a bit janky, were still a lot of fun. I remember finishing the game while half-asleep, and hearing the AI colonel telling me to turn off my console kinda spooked me. If you haven't played this yet, you're missing out.
The MGS series interested me for a long time ever since I got my hands on MGSV. I finally got around playing this game just a few months ago and man, Hideo Kojima cooked. The gameplay was ahead of its time and while it did take some time to get used to, I could easily navigate my way through the map and do what I needed to do. The boss fights were definitely... something (I raged and nearly broke down for most of them), it was a phenomenal game. It gets creepy near the end with the game telling you to switch off the console. I fell for it, but the game quickly forgives itself when I was first handed the katana. I was unstoppable with that blade. It is quite a niche title with the slightly outdated controls. But I recommend it for people who wants to satisfy that hunger after playing Death Stranding or fans of stealth titles.
