Didn't really live up to 1 or 2, though the ending is cathartic

This is by far my favourite cod game of all time. The pub experience was unmatched for me. This was the first game i got a MOAB in and my second time getting max prestige. spec ops weighs this game down, but that just goes to show how great the multiplayer and campaign were.

fun multiplayer but not much else

The trend that started in MW2 continues here. By this point the campaign has gone so thoroughly off the rails that its just pure schlock. Enjoyable schlock overall, but schlock nonetheless. But the ending with Price does still remain one of the best endings in any FPS.

This was my first CoD game. Though it is far from perfect, I just simply don't understand the overwhelming hate for this game I see in some forums.

I have only played the campaign so that is what I am going to focus on. To be frank, the campaign was really fun and impressive in my opinion.

The game takes place in a heated war between the US and Russia, with many kick ass scenes around the world. The opening stage in New York was absolutely fantastic and even Kim Jon Un agreed with me as the North Koreans used the game footage for one of its propaganda video (it's real, go google it). You get to see battles in many parts of the globe in this game as well. There is India, France, Britain, Russia, ... the list goes on and on. Every one of them is an absolute blast of an experience to play through.

The game's characters are also extremely well written in my opinion. Soap's death which the protagonist (Yuri) was partially responsible definitely resonate with players a lot. Delta team's heroic sacrifice to save 141 was portrayed extremely well. Yuri's final death that allowed you to kill Markarov also concludes a great redemption arc for the tragic Russian. The final moment of the game with Price lighting a cigar in front of the corpse of Markarov is also probably one of the best endings in gaming for me. Overall, the game's plot is extremely well constructed and resonates very well with the player.

The game, however, is not perfect. The maps can be a bit confusing and large at times and I find them harder to navigate around compared to some of the previous classic entries. I remember your game will also crash for no reason if you follow the tank outside in the Hamburg chapter. Although I never get to experience it, apparently people have a lot of problems with the game's multiplayer. I won't be basing my judgement for the game on that because I have never directly experienced that part.

Overall, I believe Modern Warfare 3 delivers a great finale to the MW series. It has a thrilling gameplay, great story and despite some rough patches here and there, is overall a very solid game. I think the game gets hated way too much than it deserves. If you like the original Modern Warfare series, this is a must play just for the sake of plot. I think people need to better appreciate the diamond in the rough that is the original Modern Warfare 3.

Yuri / Price / Soap levels are great but overall boring game.
