Well, it's iD's precursor to WOLFENSTEIN 3-D, which essentially makes it the great-grandfather of all FPS games. As you might imagine, that means it's pretty rudimentary. But it's still playable enough. Low enemy type count, low 'weapon' count, the perspective doesn't quite work right sometimes, and it gets mighty tedious, but there are some fun levels (suprisingly not TOO too maze-y!) and a little bit of game-spanning puzzle-solving to be done.

A respectable test run, but even the boys knew back in the day that that was pretty much all it was. Fun to try if you're curious.

Boring, repetitive, and dull.

An interesting curiosity from id Software especially when you draw the line from the original Catacomb to Wolfenstein 3D to gain a better appreciation of how a dull Dandy derivative moved the camera down into the maze and eventually turned into a groundbreaking first person shooter.

The game itself is pretty simplistic with basically one weapon and a few types of upgrade shots for it. As a result of this, the combat gets repetitive, while the level design contains a bunch of hidden walls you need to shoot to reveal which adds to the tedium.
