It is a sufficient collection of the old monkey ball content. It's not amazing, but it gets the job done and has a lot to offer. Great for newer players who can't afford the expensive OG copies.
BUT, they ruined Target and I will never forgive them. So it gets a lot of points taken off. The new music also sucks.

it just feels completely off, they completely got rid of the cool aesthetic from the first two games, the controls are fine but not as tight and accurate as the first two games, and i just couldn't see myself playing through this when i already played through 1 and 2 there's no point. if you wanna play monkey ball just play the first 2.
A remake of the original 2 Super Monkey ball games was a great idea, but the execution and tweaks made mean you're better off with the originals.
The main issue I have is that there were changes made to mini-games that make them far worse than their original versions. Monkey Target, by far the best mini-game from the originals, is basically unplayable due to the physics changes. Others such as baseball have inexplicable changes that you can get used to but are frustrating...why is the friction on the ground so high? And your swing is much slower?
The physics in general for the main game are also different and feel less precise, but to me that is less of an issue than what was done to the mini-games. Some like racing and fight are still fun but the package as a whole is disappointing compared to the originals. If you don't have the originals, this game is still worth picking up used as it's fairly inexpensive (you can probably get it for under $20 if you look)

An incredible recreation of Super Monkey Ball Deluxe! From the bright and colorful visuals, to the added modes and customization options, this may be the best way to play these classic games. The only thing that may give some people trouble is that the game's physics are altered slightly from Super Monkey Ball Deluxe, which may cause problems when doing some tricks.
Why can't Sega recapture the Monkey Ball magic from 1 & 2 on the Gamecube? This plays noticeably worse than those 20+-year-old titles. The physics and control feel loose and imprecise for a game series based entirely around character movement and navigation. A big disappointment that ended the series for me.
Solid remaster. The physics and controls are not as good as the original gamecube and play station controls / mechanics but that was expected as an entirely different engine was used to make this game. It was nice to get to see and play some of my favorite levels exclusive to monkey ball deluxe (to which I havenât been able to play in 7-8 years as I didnât have a ps2 but now that I do I am going to get a copy of deluxe definitely).
Honestly a pretty lackluster remaster. Graphics are somehow worse here than in the original, missing content like story mode cutscenes, day one DLC, new music and sounds that just ain't it, and the psychics are WEIRD. And THAT is what will ultimately make or break the game for you. Are you able to get around and enjoy the new psychics of the game? I myself found them to be worse than the original, but not worse to the point where it ruined the game for me. The main Monkey Ball fun levels are here and accounted for. This remaster still gets a pass because the original Super Monkey Ball games were so good. Plus all the extra unlockable stuff is a huge bonus too.
Honestly, I wish this was a better remaster. It drops the ball (heh) in A LOT of places. But the core game is still fun, and I guess at the end of the day that's what matters most. Get this if you want to support Super Monkey Ball and want all the extra stuff that was added, but I would say you're better off emulating the originals..

A reminder of both the joys and faults of the Nintendo Gamecube arcade platformer. The remake features a ton of content but also yields numerous frustrations and alterations that do some elements of the classic two games dirty.
